Answer:
It appears to easily take up to the advertised limb size of two inches, but there is no "room" to spare. The feed shoot will not permit anything at all larger, or if there are any pieces of branches sticking out, or if the limb has significant curvature, the 2" limb will not feed. In other words, two inches total diameter is the largest size.

I have put limbs in as wide as the limb chute and the chipper will take it and deposit it into a nice shredded pile.

Answer:
It's rated for limbs up to 2 inches in diameter and it chips them very well. A limb larger than that won't fit into the chipping chute.

Answer:
About 2 inches and it has to be straight. Curved pieces are problematic unless you cut them into bite-size chunks first.

Answer:
The height of the chipper is much lower than most. The top shoot should not have to be removed for any reason. Its normal position is facing to the rear, not facing up, because it also doubles as the handle for moving the machine. No, it would not be easily removed.

Answer:
The leaf chute can be reclined to horizontal for raking leaves into the unit. I would caution about how many leaves you rake into the chute at onetime. It sucks the leaves in very well, but it could be possible to jam it if you have a very large amount of leaves, if you push too much in at a time.

Answer:
It's a Briggs 10 horse power. Does a good job really heavy duty for the price. Does great with leaves and small branches. Does not do well with 1 to 2 inches, vibrates too much. I use it only for leaves and small branches, like from pecan trees.

Answer:
Hello Succatash. MTD does not provide horsepower ratings in connection with the engines it utilizes for mowers. MTD instead characterizes engine size and/or capacity using displacement in cubic centimeters or “cc’s” because it is a highly reliable and consistent way to describe an engine’s capacity. There is no direct math conversion equate displacement to horsepower. Thank you for your question.
