This is a great chipper/shredder. What is ironic is that this is the cheapest gas chipper/shredders I could find and also one of the highest rated. A lot of these came with a Briggs & Stratton engines in the past but I love the Powermore engine on the newer models. They are very easy to start, easy to check and add oil, and powerful for their size. You might want to consider making a tamping tool like I did (see attached pictures) to push twigs, small sticks and pine cones through the leaf hopper as that heavier debris tends to get stuck in the curved bottom.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PapaOfSeven My Second Shredding Day
Received it 2 days ago. Inordinate amount of trouble trying to add oil - can't reach between the engine components to remove oil filler caps. I was almost ready to pack it up and send it back for poor design. My shredding is mostly pine straw. Very slow going the 1st day: machine jamming, poking around in the chute with a stick to clear it. My 2nd day, though, I have it whipped - I think. Pine straw and leaves have to be absolutely dry and they will slide right through. It will produce raw mulch at a very good rate. As for adding oil: get an auto-parts store funnel with long clear tubing attached. Works like a dream. I now like my shredder.

Right out of the box was impressed with sturdiness. I have only used it for five hours (straight) but I can see the quality of construction. This is a great leaf shredder and adequate small brush chipper. The product does what it was designed to do. I am a GC and use this at several locations, on one property I have a 300 year old Sycamore tree, this tree provides challenges as the leaves are about 2x the size of a person's hand. This unit sucked them in and reduced them without hesitation, at a rapid rate. I have read so many reviews on chippers/shredders I do not recall whether this machine received a bad review because it did not chip an axe handle. Ax handles are not branches, they are kiln dried and impregnated with urethane...need I say more. This seems like a real good machine, the reduction ratio, listed as 10 to 1 may be an underestimate, i was pleasantly surprised by the significant reduction and fineness of shredding. I will however be ordering extra blades, just to be safe.

This machine is great! I've used it twice so far since purchase, and its handled everything I've thrown at it. My only criticism of the machine is the location of the oil filler cap and the oil dipstick. The chipper inlet chute is located right in front of the oil filler cap and dipstick cap. In order to fill the engine with oil or check the oil level, I had to remove the chipper chute...which didn't take long (only 3 bolts hold the chute in place), but was inconvenient. I would have thought there was a better way to do this. Otherwise, I'm impressed with this machine's performance.

The machine is Very difficult to start. I ended up calling the company who gave me some advise in how to manipulate it to better enhance it's starting. BUT, each time I use it, I never know if I will be able to use it. It does well once it's started, But I would Not buy it again, or recommend it to anyone.

I had read the reviews of others that mentioned about the difficulty of adding oil into the engine. When I got everything our of the box, before I put anything together, I tipped the unit over on it's side which made adding oil very easy. In the future, I will use a funnel I have to add automatic transmission oil into my truck transmission. This funnel can be bought at most any auto parts store. The chipper works great and has plenty of power to take care of anything I put to it. I had tree limbs over 1 inch in diameter, and it did a great job on them. It also worked very well chewing up leaves.

I bought this item to eliminate pruned branches from around the yard.
This item did everything I wanted it to efficiently and quickly. It handles anything you can get through the main chute feeder and gobbled up smaller brushy items in the rear feeder equally well. I had some wild grape vine prunings that were difficult to feed into the shredder but "normal" prunings were gobbled up quickly. For the chipper feed (the front feed chute) keep a lopper handy because you'll often need it to trim your limbs to fit into the chute. This item eliminates your yard waste but there's still a lot of work involved!
I read the other review on the product and the two owner's manuals before using the product. The company's owners manual is straight forward and helpful but the Briggs & Stratton engine manual was harder to follow due to it being written to cover a range of similar products.
There are two oil filler caps on both the right and left of this engine. Both had yellow caps on my engine. That confused me. But sure enough, when you put in the oil, the oil level comes up on both sides, so using either one is OK. The left one is easier to get to, the right one requires taking the chute off (easy to do). There is no dipstick. Just fill the oil until it is almost ready to overflow.
I then cycled the oil through the engine by slowly pulling the starting cord 10 times. I then added gas, choked the engine, advanced the throttle and it started on the second pull.
Using it is straight forward. It stalled once when the twisty grape vines I was feeding it got caught up in the shredder, but at the same time I noticed my mulch bag was stuffed full and the trimmings were getting backed up in the waste chute. Don't know which caused the stall but everything was fine after I emptied the bag and cleared the waste chute.
The mulch this item makes is finer than expected (a good thing) and disposes from it's bag easily. The waste does fill the bag a little quicker than I expected.
So far, my only criticisms of this product are the engine's owners manual and that it is louder than I expected.

Product was shipped with the wrong operating manual.
Collection bag difficult to attach securely.
Difficult to keep running while chipping. I'm still experimenting with the choke feature.
