Asked by: allen
I ordered on line. Home depot shipped it right out but it got delayed when it got to the final shipping station. I suspect xmas traffic was the reason. you should get the unit within a week of ordering.

2 in. 208 cc Tip-Down 3-in-1 Gas Chipper Shredder is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from My Second Shredding Day Received it 2 days ago. Inordinate amount of trouble trying to add oil - can't reach between the engine components to remove oil filler caps. I was almost ready to pack it up and send it back for poor design. My shredding is mostly pine straw. Very slow going the 1st day: machine jamming, poking around in the chute with a stick to clear it. My 2nd day, though, I have it whipped - I think. Pine straw and leaves have to be absolutely dry and they will slide right through. It will produce raw mulch at a very good rate. As for adding oil: get an auto-parts store funnel with long clear tubing attached. Works like a dream. I now like my shredder.

I had a previous yardmachine that lasted for 35 years and finally wore out. I really like that old machine. The hopper design in my new machine is lacking because the material collects in a low spot in the hopper before entering the chipper. That means that I'm constantly sticking a stick or branch down the hopper to clear the material collecting in that low spot. The machine started well and ran well. My other big gripe was the draw belt on the collection bag. In my old bag there was a draw string with a cinch button that you can easily slide up and down the string to open or close to get the full bag off the chute. The belt that they put on the bag is very hard and cumbersome to open and close the bag.

We have been clearing recently purchased property and have bagged 26 bags of mulch with out a problem, 12 in one day. We get about 4 bags per tank of gas. It handles trees and limbs up to 2 inches without a problem

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great with DRY Leaves and Twigs Works great with DRY leaves and small short twigs. Wet leaves or dry leaves mixed with pine needles or mulch causes hopper to regularly clog up. Pain ! Hopper pin also needs a good redesign. Have not tried small branches yet.

We have had this for around ten years. Until last year we didn't use it much (maybe four or five tankfuls of fuel), but then we began shredding leaves in the Fall with it and now we have a large oak down. It has been marginal on the bigger branches just because they aren't all straight like the chute. I saw another comment about having the loppers along next to you for cutting them up and will try that. Good: pulls well behind our lawn tractor and stores well once you cut the holes for the chute wingnuts into slots - then bungie the chute up out of the way. Reduces leaves well so that we can dump them from the mesh bag to the bed of the wife's UTV for disposal or mulching. Mesh bag is holding up much better than I anticipated. I was able to buy this one directly from the local store. NOT Good: I always drain the gas from winter-stored power equipment and run them dry, but this seems to have continued carb problems. It will NOT idle without backfiring, and restarts after getting it warm is a major problem. I've learned to let it go ahead and backfire away at high idle while dumping the bag, and plan on having a cool drink and rest for it to cool down when refueling is needed. The diaper pin style hitch pins for the tongue are dangerously sharp and awkward. I am replacing them with standard spring type.
