CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 2.8 out of 5 by 108 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst mower ever DO NOT BUY THIS MOWER! I bought this mower last year in the end of September and used it twice in October and once in November before the rain started. I had trouble with the engine staying on and had trouble starting the engine all three times I used it. I just pulled it out of the garage to mow the lawn and it won't start at all. Checked the air filter. Checked the spark plug. Put brand new fresh gas in and....nothing. This is the biggest failure in push mower history. An absolute waste of time, energy, and money! DO NOT BUY THIS MOWER March 9, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Somethings Wrong with system enginering Bought it last year, tried to use it this year, I remember trying last year after a few uses and it didnt start and now Im trying to work the kinks out and the reviews are the same problems as mine, tired spark plug, compression, fuel, clean the bowl, idk whats going on with it but its maybe the key way snapped and cant tell or engine kill switch connection is my best guess but the spark plug still sparks so I am stumped, too bad they never gave advise on whats wrong with the common problems. I feel ripped off. Find a mower with a primer bowl and choke lever. Get something else. May 5, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Also having problems with engine Only have used about 5 times so far. I put gas in engine and it seem that every other time or so gas just runs out of the carb. I took it to B&S repair, after the gas was completely gone from the engine so my car wouldn't be filled with gas fumes. They had it for a week and then told me they put gas in it, started it, and there was nothing wrong with it. They charged me $25 for simply starting it. April 9, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by The engine is a lemon I bought this and from the very beginning the engine would only run for a few minutes and the die. If I waited awhile, I could start it again, but again it would only run for a few minutes. However, after using it for a while longer now it won't start at all! If you go to the Briggs & Stratton 550ex webpage, you'll see the engine only has a 1.8 out of 5 stars rating. I don't know what they did, but B&S really messed up this engine model. I took the mower to a B&S engine repair shop for warranty service, and hopefully that won't take too long, but this whole process is ridiculous. Stay away from this mower; just go somewhere else and find another brand. July 17, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Do...Not...Want! My Wife and I purchased this mower last Summer and got in about 4-5 uses out of it before storing it in the garage for the winter. While it ran, it seemed okay, despite the fact that the blades would jam often and it was an effort to start (requiring multiple pulls). My wife usually gave up if it wouldn't turn over after 3 tries, or would ask me to do it for her. We pulled it out this Spring to discover it would not start. Checked the gas & oil like instructed. No go. Somewhere there is a spark plug that I should probably check, but after unscrewing pretty much everything and attempting to use the owner's manual as a guide, I remain in the dark as to where this elusive piece is. I'm sure someone more mechanically inclined would point to its obvious location and I would smack my forehead. Despite that fact, I feel like I shouldn't be searching the internal workings of a machine not even 1 year old. Now we are attempting to contact the manufacturer to see what is covered under the limited warranty. My best advice to someone in this price point, is to look elsewhere, find a manual push mower or something with a little more engine quality than this disappointing machine. March 30, 2014
