Pull the spark plug and clean it. This was the simple fix for mine when it died 5 minutes after 1st startup.

Does this work well on slopes?

My lawn has a couple of slopes in it. I haven't read any reviews that mention it's ability on a slope. Thank you!
Asked by: EliRod
yeah works good because of the big rear wheels. I use it on a ditch and my old self propelled Honda was too heavy for this. I am very happy with this mower.

Yard Machines 21 in. 140cc OHV Briggs & Stratton Walk Behind Gas Push Mower is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 571.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Please Read if engine stops working!!!!! I've read many reviews about this mower. I bought it and after one summer it wouldn't start. I changed the air filter and spark plug but still nothing. I use regular unleaded gas that uses ethanol. Biggest problem for small engines is ethanol because it will clog up the carburetor. I watched a YouTube video on how to clean this model lawnmower carburetor. I'm not exactly mechanically inclined but I followed it step by step. It's really easy to clean one. I spent $4 on carb/choke cleaner and when I put it back together the lawnmower started up on the first pull. It runs great. If you can get ethanol free gas, buy it. I was planning on spending about $350-$400 on a new lawnmower but no need. If it stops running clean the carburetor. I hope this might help someone who might be in the situation I was in.

The first one had issues immediately (loose sparkplug connection) and stopped working within 6 months. I took it back and got a replacement. Less tan 4 months later, the thing won't start. I'll have to return a second one. Hours of frustration as i troubleshoot, replace gas, clean carberateur, and still not working. i should have listened to the random guy and bought something of higher quality.

I purchased this mower last year just to do the trim work around the yard. it was nice not to have to prime, just pull and it would start. at the end of the year i ran the mower out of gas to have it ready for winter. I go to use it the first time this year and it will not start. I look online to see what the issue could be. All i find is i need to remove the carb and have it cleaned. I am being told this may happen every year. My last push mower i have had for 27 years and NEVER had a problem. Three primes and it would start. In fact it has the original spark plug in it. I am ready to trash this and get a different mower already.

I used to buy the Toro's that pull you for $300+, bought this cause i was having issues again with the TORO. I got to say forget the pulling mechicnism, this mower doesnt need one. It is so light i can literally run with it and mow. It does a great job, I cant complain, glad I decided to buy it, cause now I saved over $100 anytime I need a new mower.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Don't bother buying this junk. You'll save money short term, but probably will use it for one season and have to purchase another. On my last use of ladt season, I drained gas and left a rag inside the tank to absorb moisture, and I was sure it would have no problems starting again. WRONG!! After putting a tank full of fresh gas and yanking the cord hundreds of times, the mower would not start. Now Home Depot wants to charge $98 to repair a 7 month old mower. I repeat, this mower is garbage and overpriced for the poor quality parts. Pay a little bit more and buy something better like one with a Honda engine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Don't buy it! After letting sit over winter it wouldn't start! Took to service center and they wanted $150 to fix. (Only paid $179) Said even though gas was drained, some still sat and crystallized the plastic carburetor!?! No help from Home Depot- 30 day return on gas motors, Not covered under Briggs&Stratton warranty. Little guy always loses. You get what you pay for.

Own one and it worked fine for the first year. During the same year, bought my mother one and it worked fine for the first year. Both mowers will not start. Changed everything on it (spark plugs, oil and gas), still nothing. Buy a mower with a primer bulb and another brand to avoid frustration and a waste of money.

Have only used this mower once, so far... and am VERY happy with it so far. I was unable to mow for weeks while I transitioned from my old mower to this new one, so my lawn was about 2 feet tall, and I have about 1/5 of an acre of grass. I was able to mow everything with less than a tank of gas, even though I ended up with 80 to 90 gallons of grass clippings. After the initial oil and gas being added, the mower started on the 2nd pull. Thereafter it started on the 1st pull... amazing. It is a lot quieter than my previous mower... and went through the tall grass without even slowing down... amazing. The mower is very light weight, and the 11-inch rear wheels help to maneuver the mower around things. I am very happy so far, it is a nice mower.
