This is my third Yosemite fireplace 38 inch model and this is the third defective unit. The first one had a bad light socket. The second one had white marks on the inside fire screen and this one has a brown stain on the front panel-look at picture. The product look nice on the website so we gave it try but the result is poor quality control.

I was leery about ordering this since the only single review to be found on it anywhere was extremely negative. And the price was more than I initially wanted to spend. But this was literally the ONLY wall mount electric fireplace I could find that didn't look like a flat screen TV (yuck) or ultra-modern/spaceage-sleek. Luckily it has turned out to be AWESOME! We live in an 1890's farmhouse and it blends in perfectly with our ecclectic/rustic decor. I think this fireplace would work well in just about any type of surrounding.
The frame's finish actually does have the appearance of a slab of natural polished marble! It's some kind of high-gloss plastic formica, but really just GORGEOUS. The "fire's" "coals" in front have a lifelike glow, and the "flames" flicker, dance upward & disappear much more realistically than I would have expected. The overall color of the flames & coals is orange - but very pleasant. It even has a VERY realistic "crackling fire" sound that we love - it's subtle & blends into the background. When you turn on the heat (2 settings, high or low) the blower is really quiet too, barely noticeable. It also has a dimmer feature to adjust the brightness (which seems unnecessary to me). The remote is nice & simple - our TV is right next to the fireplace & we haven't had any issues with that being affected by it. Setup was very straightforward, we had an electrician wire an outlet directly behind it on the wall, so no visible cord. Didn't take long at all. The overall effect feels like a real built-in fireplace (especially since the wall behind ours is almost the same color as the faux marble frame).
CONS: In the upper righthand corner we can actually see a bundle of wires & some internal components right through the front of the screen. We're not bothered by it since it could easily be mistaken for reflections/shadows from "twigs" or whatnot - but we were a little surprised by that considering the price. Definitely not a dealbreaker though. My only other complaint is that the row of "coals" are cut flat along the backside, which butts up to the inner screen projecting the "flames", and behind that translucent screen is another row of "coals" butting flat up against the backside of it. The coals would appear MUCH more realistic if they had irregular/rounded edges all the way over the top.
Again, not by any means a dealbreaker, but as a perfectionist, just saying... it could be better. It IS surprisingly realistic for an electric fire though. If you passed by it you'd think "what a lovely fire!" But upon close inspection you'd see that "oh, it's not real".
All in all it's beautiful & we're really enjoying it. The glow, the warmth & the sound of it have truly transformed our living room into the "winter sanctuary" I've been plotting for months. We've had it on all day long, the area in front of the "coals" does get hot but not enough to hurt. And my two-year-old already bashed the glass front with a metal flashlight - no harm done. Would definitely buy this again.
