Hello John and thank you for the inquiry! This fireplace is designed to be mounted on a wall as the heat comes from the bottom.

Customer Reviews

Rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor especially for the price I ordered this fireplace because the flames appear more realistic than the 200 - 300 dollar fireplaces. It was so important to me that I spent double the cost for this brand and model. The flames did look better, but the product was still poorly built. The crackle sound was on a simple 5 second loop and you could rap to it since it was so obvious. I'm glad I purchased it through Home Depot because returning it was easy and guaranteed. Thanks for that Home Depot, but this product wasn't what it should have been. Here are the reasons for the return: Model number on box was DF EFP900, but number on the fireplace was BD 50. When calling Yosemite, they said this was the older model. Remote control works seldom @ 1 meter or 7 meters away as suggested. You have to click and move position or even get up to turn it on sometimes. instructions are poorly translated - barely understandable and not the same updated instructions as listed on website. Bulbs can not be accessed as instructions suggest. No access panels in front or screws to remove... nothing. I dismounted the fireplace from the wall thinking this was a fluke... Turns out it was welded shut in the back as well. I spent days and hours calling Yosemite, downloading new instructions and it turns out it there was no access to the bulbs. I could have accessed it finally by taking the entire fireplace apart starting with the top panel screws... 12 total... Bulbs are on the bottom :P When heat is turned on the fan is loose inside and buzzes very loudly. A small push on the bottom will give temporary relief of sound until it is turned on the next time. This makes the remote control useless. Sorry Yosemite. You are just as cheap or cheaper than your other overseas competitors. Not at all worth the cost. January 23, 2012
