Answer:
Hot water is recommended because this is how the product worked best during testing. You can use room temperature water but you may not get the same results you would get with hot water.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of money The guys at HD swear about this product. I got 2 galons and couldnt clean 2 car garage. Concrete is about 3 years old. Look at pictures. It could even lift child crayon color ir tire marks. March 13, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by USELESS Would not remove anything from my driveway, kids bath soap is stronger than this stuff..Total waste of my time and money.. May 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great concrete cleaner Purchased this product today. Immediately took it home and tried it on my very dirty stained patio. Let product sit about 5 minutes and with minimal scrubbing it was amazing at the amount of dirt removed. The area I tried it on looks awesome. Can't wait till I can clean the entire patio and porch. Definitely best concrete cleaner I've used. And I've tried several. Definitely worth the money. February 28, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of time and money I had high hopes for this driveway cleaner. After a tree removal company's truck dripped a huge amount of oil on our one year old asphalt driveway, I was determined to return it to pristine condition. Unfortunately, it did not do the trick. I think it just spread the oil around a little bit more. It did okay with some dirty spots but hardly more than what regular water would do. Save your money and pass on this stuff. May 17, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely useless This cleaner didn't clean even at full strength you would be better off using a bar of soap and a scrub brush! Don't waste your money. October 15, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by did not work on my concret driveway did not work on my concrete driveway, had to use muriatic acid, i sprayed it on scrubed it and power washed it off. October 10, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Doesn't work very well on my asphalt driveway I used the product to try to remove oil stains from my asphalt driveway. The stains were a couple of months old. I used the product as directed, repeatedly, and was not happy with the result. Seems like it spread the stain around a little bit and removed some of it but can't really say it corrected the problem. In fairness to the product, the asphalt has a rough texture and the staining was rather deeply embedded. But can't say I am particularly impressed with this product. August 3, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor performance I used 4 times the amount of this cleaner than they suggested. I followed all the other dir;ections but could hardly tell that it had done any good, even after soaking for 10 minutes and a lot, I mean a lot, of scrubbing. The bricks did not look much better than when I started. What is interesting is that I got some Bissel Pro carpet cleaner on the brick patio by accident. I didn't scrub or rinse it off but after a rain it came so clean that I was amazed. No scrubbing and this area is far, far, far better looking than where the Zep cleaner was used with hot water and some serious scrubbing. March 12, 2015
