Customer Questions & Answers

Does this have to be used in a pressure washer?

I have a garden hose attachment bottle that can be filled with a cleaner concentrate, and it will dilute the cleaner as it sprays. Will this product be effective in that type of sprayer?
Asked by: KleanGuy
No. On my porch I used it in a garden sprayer to get into tight places and it worked well,

Can I put this in a bucket and use a scrub brush to clean my siding?

I saw that using a pressure washer is recommended but can I just brush this on with a siding brush and get some decent results? I just need to clean the house good enough to satisfy the home owner's association and I cannot afford to buy a pressure washer. Also, even if I could afford one, I'm afraid to use a pressure washer as I have heard using one (if you don't know what you're doing, which I don't) can force water under the siding. I'm not asking for a guarantee, I'm just asking if I can use this product in a bucket without damaging my siding.
Asked by: nessun
A little dated but this might help someone else? Sure you can, just follow the dilution recommendations. Wet the siding first, then start at the BOTTOM of the house and work your way up. Don't start at the top and wash down, start at the bottom and work up. Use plenty of water to rinse, as your working up the side of the house use plenty of water to rinse the bottom that you already washed. I would also buy or borrow a spray tank applicator to spray on the wash then use your brush. If you just dip in the bucket you will be wasting a lot of wash. I use a pressure washer and in spots also do what I am telling you. I have a soap dispenser on my pressure washer but use a spray tank applicator to spray the wash on. I think it saves on the wash liquid you are using. Get yourself a telescopic extension pole for the brush, it makes washing so much easier reaching the high areas. If possible work on shady spots or on a cloudy day. Avoid the real hot sunny spots, it makes for a better end result. (at least I think).

can I use this product for cleaning pool screen enclosure from mold and dirt?

Asked by: Mishkin
The pressure wash concentrate is not corrosive and I don't know what effect it would have on mold by itself. It does loosen the bond between dirt and vinyl siding so probably would have the same effect on mold. Need to be very cautious in use of a pressure washer at full pressure because it can severely damage screening. I'd use soap setting on washer wand first and then lowest setting to rinse the soap off after letting the soap soak the mold and dirt for 5 or 10 minutes.

Can I safely use this product on vinyl decking?

Asked by: Char
I've used it on Trek decking without a problem but have not used it on vinyl decking; however, I have used it on vinyl siding with no problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zep house and siding wash We have used other siding products in the past with not the greatest results. This time we tried Zep on our own home's vinyl siding and on our rental house regular siding. Neither house had been cleaned for 3 yrs and were very dirty with with moss, grime and mildew. Zep worked great with our power washer to easily clean siding with NO scrubbing on both houses. Sprayed it on and let it soak just a couple minutes, then washed all grime right off. We will be using this product exclusively to clean our siding in the future. Highly recommend it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fair product For everyday grit and grime on Vinyl siding, this product works very well in a pressure washer. But, for mold and mildew on siding in the deep south, you will still need the tried and true Clorox bleach and water with a tablespoon of dishwashing detergent. I used this product in a much stronger ratio than was noted on the bottle and the mold and mildew resisted my efforts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Zep This product alone doesn't seem to do much but it makes the pressure washer clean more effectively and made the white of the fascia cleaner than just the power washer alone

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is garbage I recently bought two bottles of your professional sprayer containers. I filled one of them with an off brand cleaner and began to clean the inside of my boat. After just two minutes I grabbed the container from the base of the sprayer where it threads into the plastic bottle and it broke. Snapped right off. I tried to snap it back together but no luck. So I drained the cleaner into the second Zep professional sprayer bottle. The second bottle only lasted about five minutes before it broke in the same place. Complete garbage. I can't believe that this product passed any kind of quality control. Certainly this issue is not the first complaint for this horrible product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from One step above worthless If this stuff would work at 10% of the advertised hype it might have cleaned something. My pressure 3500 psi@4 gpm washer is set for a 10:1 ratio so I couldn't spray it at any heaver concentration. I tried using a scrub brush and dipping it in the cleaner., . . still without success. Greased Lighting. 409, and Simple Green, each mixed with outdoor type bleach performed considerably better. Save your money. Some products are made to use and some are made to sell. This is definitely made for selling.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not of any use at all Used it with my new pressure washer at the recommended dilution then again at a stronger dilution. Could barely tell anything was done. It worked somewhat when I scrubbed the vinyl siding but even then left some gree mold. The product does not foam or suds up at all so it is hard to know if it is working. I may try another product or just return this along with the pressure washer and buy a scub brush on a pole instead
