PVC: yes
polybutylene: not sure, but you could try it and see if it clears out the pipes.

20 oz. Toilet Care Tune-Up (Case of 12) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised but use common sense There are hardly any product which works on toilets. Day 1 I put 4 oz in but did not flush. I poured approx. 5 mugs (standard size) of hot water to make the granules rest INSIDE the toilet, i.e. rest in the U portion. After 6 hrs. flushed it. Day-2: I poured again 4 oz and this time half flushed. This caused the granules to rest in the horizontal pipe leading from the toilet into the main trunk line. Day-3 : Almost a full flush. Results: Amazing. Continuously I had toilet issues and plunging, etc works however I think it just clears the U turn of the pipe. This one I believe actually cleared the horizontal pipe and I see significant increase in the flow. To others: You might want to adjust the amount of water you put in after the granules are dropped to make sure the granules rest where you think you have the max issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better flush My home is 45 years old, and the old clay tile sanitary line has been giving me slow flushes over the last couple years, We have a very irregular routine in our household so there is never a time when we can use this product and let it sit in the system for 6 hours. Due to this problem, I divided the contents of the bottle into 5 4 oz doses, and put each in when I thought I could get the longest rest period. After 5 doses, I am seeing improvement in the flushes, they are more complete and often the water is clean and clear. I think based on the information supplied with the product, that this would work very well for homes that have regular routines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective and safe for paper clogs The main ingredients in this product is a type of clay that's used in cosmetics, medicine, toothpaste and even food as well as an enzyme that breaks down paper. Nothing too harsh. In the past I've had some issues with plumbing clogs but with some changes in habits as well as the use of enzymatic drain cleaners as preventative maintenance I haven't had any issues in a long time. This is a good product to add to your maintenance schedule if you have slow flushing toilets caused by paper waste which is a common problem. Since the enzyme breaks down cellulose it's probably not much help for other types of clogs but paper is a common cause of toilet clogs, especially in older plumbing with thick toilet paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product. Had a slow toilet that would clog at the worst times. I'd snake it, get it flowing but it would eventually give me problems. I put one 4 oz application in, following instructions and let it sit for about 8 hours while at work. Flushed it when I got home and after one application works like new. I did follow through on the 2 other applications and now use this on a bimonthly basis. Great product, does what it says if you follow the directions and have patients. You must have water flow and you must let it sit in order for the product to go it's job. I'd recommend it to everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes a little time but it works Be patient, mine took several treatments. Fortunately, with 2.5 baths, I could place the problem toilet "off limits" and give the enzymes time to work. First dose + 8 hrs was a little better, second dose+ 6 hours better still. third dose + 16 hours and it's flushing fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is the only thing that worked for my upstairs toilet! My upstairs toilet had not flushed properly in years. I've had to plunge after each use. I tried dozens of products 'guaranteed' to work that did not. I snaked out the toilet multiple times and replaced the guts in the vain hope that it might help. Nothing ever worked until I happened across this product and after reading how it works differently than the other dozens of products I had tried, I figured it couldn't hurt and just maybe would help. To my amazement, after following the directions for 4 days, my toilet works properly for the first time in years! I will be keeping this product on hand in the future for preventative maintenance on both toilets in my house. It truly worked, and I am incredibly grateful because I had really given up hope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This really works.. Does exactly what it promises to do. My toilet was partially clogged, on a Sunday, and I couldn't call for maintenance till Monday. Plunging it did not work, so I picked this up. I really didn't expect it to work but it did. I poured it in, flushed once and let it sit for 5 hours. Flushed again and plunged it again, it was a little better. Put more in and left it sit overnight. In the morning my toilet was good as new and I didn't need to call maintenance after all! You only use about a 5th of a container at a time (I just guesstimated the amount), so it is pretty economical. It DOES make your entire bathroom smell weird though, kind of like fertilizer, but it's worth it if your toilet is plugged up. I don't know if I would put up with it for "maintenance" though. I will definitely keep this on hand from now on! To the person who wrote the review before: mine didn't completely dissolve either, but it certainly didn't turn into a rock! Maybe you got a defective container or there was something in your water it reacted with?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did the job My toilet was running sluggishly; not really clogged but not up to par either. I used this product as directed for 3 evenings and now it is running as it should.
