Customer Questions & Answers

are you supposed to use multiple applicator pads? if you have to wait 30 minutes between coats won't one dry out?

I guess it seems like you need multiple pads to do multiple coats? unless there is a way to keep the pad from drying between coats?
Asked by: Chris
just put them in ziploc bags, and they'll be ready a week later if need be

No you need something designed for furniture. I would use lemon oil or a product called Scratch Cover. I would put on several coats and wipe excess off. Allow time to penetrate wood then buff dry with soft towel. I have used this method on many items.

Asked by: Nan
The refinish restores moisture into the wood and protects it too. Polyurethane just puts a "coating over" the wood. Doesn't improve the wood.

How do you apply it?

Asked by: Perry
Sprinkle direct from the bottom then spread evenly with a mop. I used an O-Cedar hardwood floor cleaner from HD. Takes several coats but easy to apply and you don't have to do the whole floor at once.

I had 5 year old Cali Bamboo (black) with a cloudy finish that I tried every conceivable cleaner on. Bona, Zep, home made, steam mop with no luck. The finish just looked shot. I was planning to try to scuff the poly finish and recoat out of pure desperation. And then I ran across zeps refinisher. I mopped it on and was blown away by the results. It adds quite a bit of shine but really makes the floor pop again. Wow! To say I am extremely happy with this product is an understatement. I got some on the porcelain tile and it put a nice shine on it too and seemed to darken the grout slightly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great for non pre-finished floors I think the product is excellent on old oak, pine, or walnut floors that the life is gone. They need to be sanded and refinished, but that is big bucks. So for those floors, it is wonderful. reading the reviews, I am of the firm belief, some prefinished oak, exotics, or laminate have a finish that is incompatible with the poly urethane. So my advice is to spot test any new prefinished flooring. I think that will solve all the head aches.

The overall appearance of the floors was GREATLY improved and protected. We could not afford the price of sanding and refinishing as we are seniors. We love clean and shiny so this was our answer. We first applied Zep a year ago and floors still look good. We plan to put another coat on worn areas this year part of maintenance of floors.

This product was effective in restoring the finish of our floor to a good appearance. We used it in conjunction with the Zep cleaner and it looks pretty good without going through a total strip and sand refinish. It is a thin polyurethane and in the course of three coats wiped on builds up a nice gloss.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Good ! I applied as directed and my floor is terrible. There are streaks and "dirt" looking smudges, and the floor is sticky! Please tell me how to remove this product. I have tried hot water mixed with vinegar with no success... it just smudged the product around.

The results were impressive! It took four bottles to do the hardwoods on the ground floor but well worth the time and effort. How well it wears remains to be seen but very pleased so far.
