This ZEP 64 oz. Drain Care worked well but it is important to note that it is NOT a clog remover. I used this on on my wife's sink in our master bathroom. She always rinses her hair down the sink which slowly builds up and slows the drain. After running hot water for a couple of minutes, I poured 8 oz. of Drain Care down the drain, then followed that with 16 oz of hot water. It's best if you let it sit for about six hours. I let it sit the entire day while we were at work. The drain now flows with no backup at all. Drain Care works well just remember it's not for clogs but more for maintenance.

The drain plug in our shower is design such that every single strand of hair makes it down the drain. Of course this results in clogs. I've recently switched to a product that helps prevent clogs, but I still keep this product on hand for times I feel water isn't draining quite as fast as it should, not only in the showers but in our sinks as well. It does a much better job than a store brand drain cleaner I used to buy. The only downside is for it to work as designed, you have to remember to use it 3 days in a row, and you can't use the drain for 6 hours after use. It can be a slight inconvenience, but it's worth the sacrifice for clear pipes.

I used this product for 4 nights in a row on a slow kitchen drain and it did nothing. My problem was the black slime that builds up in the pipes and it slows the drain about every 3 years. I used a snake to clear the drain and decided to do an experiment. I scooped out some of the black slime and put it in a jar with the drain cleaner and after 24 hours nothing happened. It didn't dissolve it or break it down in any way. This product is a complete waste of money.

I obtained this product to clear out my shower drain and am not disappointed. It is easier to use than the crystal product. I used it twice and now the drain empties much faster. The odor is pleasant with no burning of my eyes when it is in the drain. The only negative is that you cannot use the drain for a minimum of six hours, but I just used it in the morning after my shower so the drains were warm (according to the directions) and flush it when I got home from work. I use it periodically to keep the drain free flowing.

ZEP products work so well for me as they are commercial strength and there is no fuss about them. As you use your sinks and showers, over time build up occurs from the things that are washed down there (dirt, soap, shampoo residue, etc.). This really helps to strip away these things that build up over time and leave you with a fast draining shower and sink.
One thing to note: With these types of drain cleaners, you never want to use them on a sink with a garbage disposal.

This is a great routine drain maintenance product. As with all home-ownership tasks, maintenance is far better than waiting for a problem to fix. This product will help prevent the build-up that causes blockages. It uses an enzyme rather than caustic heavy-duty chemicals that can be harmful and dangerous to use. I'll never forget the exciting episode in home-ec class where a janitor mixed two different drain products to try and clear a sink drain.
It doesn't work as fast, but the trade-off for safety is a winner here. Follow the directions, and you'll be pleased with the results. I used this to clear up a slow shower drain in the guest bathroom, and I'll be happy to use this for continued maintenance of the drain.
