I almost didn't try it because of some of the bad reviews. I had used a whole bottle of Drano Max on a laundry tub drain to no avail. So before calling a plumber, I decided to try Zep. I removed the trap so as to drain all water from the pipes, reassembled the pipes and poured In Zep drain opener to the top of drain. As the Zep would slowly go down the drain, I would add more. I eventually used the entire bottle. After waiting an hour, I filled the laundry tub half full of hot water. It didn't clear right away, but when I came back an hour later the pipes were cleared. Very satisfied!

Liquid in the kitchen sink would drain slowly over night, but would fill up when the water was turned on.
After pouring the entire jug down the kitchen sink drain over two days and waiting yet another day, it never cleared the clog.
A big waste of time and money.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nusscular Works on Hair and Soap Scum
This is an Alkaline based drain cleaner (Bleach and Lye) which works well especially on sinks or shower drains which are clogged by hair and soap scum. This tends to be cheaper than other fancier foaming brands but I find it works just as well.
The only other product I have used which worked better was some dry pellet form drain cleaner which I used in the middle east. It literally smoked and boiled in the pipes. Not sure if you can legally buy that in the US but it may be worth a shot if this product does not work for you.

My kitchen drain flow slowed to a drool after I churned razor clam guts in the garbage disposer. I snaked the drain to 25 feet to no avail.
Not a plumber in the state was going to show up after 4 p.m. Friday, so I went to HD and bought this stuff. I poured in 24 oz (the bottle said 16) and retreated with the remaining 40 oz., following each treatment with 4 quarts of scalding hot water. The second treatment worked! I'm sure I saved at least $80 on a plumber weekend call. Whew! I'll be using Zep Drain Care monthly now.
The clams tasted extra good!

Followed the directions and nothing. Clog still there. Will go back to Draino. Half the size and twice the power. Disappointed in this product

This worked VERY well and was only $6.
Used it to open my badly clogged shower drain. However,
1) I may have used more product than recommended on the instructions
2) After allowing it to sit for 20 minutes or so, I followed it by poring a pot of boiling HOT water down the drain.
$6 later, I have a well functioning drain!
