Answer:
Zep Septic System and Cesspool Treatment would be to assist with septic pipes. If you are looking for a clog remover for interior drains, we would recommend looking at one of our drain openers such as our Professional Strength Drain Opener, 10 Minute Hair Clog Remover, Liquid Heat or Crystal Heat.

My field lines are getting clogged via sludge and/or roots. I've been using copper sulfate for the roots, and muriatic acid for the sludge. Would pouring this product directly into the septic dield lines help clear them out:?

Answer:
Hi ECKJR,
If you've used copper sulfate and muriatic acid and IF the pipes are still clogged, then I doubt that a septic system cleaner would work.
While you can try to use this cleaner, this only surefire to get rid of root problems would be to rent out a sewer snake that has a root ripper tip, which would then open the lines.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quickly melts organic materials I used this for a completely different purpose than it is advertised for, but it worked like a charm. I had an elderly pet that had many "accidents" on my carpeting. The stain and odor were embedded into the fibers and there was still a lot of "organic matter" stuck to the material. I moistened the waste with this solution at full strength, allowed it to soak for 4 hours and then used a carpet steamer - shampooer over the areas. The solution had dissolved the waste material, allowing it to be vacuumed up into the carpet cleaning machine and leaving the entire area looking clean and smelling fresh. The enzymes in this work better for this purpose than any of the solutions sold in pet stores for clean-up. Because it works so well on organic material, I would hesitate to use it on wool or cotton-fiber carpets, but it did wonders on my synthetic blends. August 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does not work Used 4 bottles over a 2 month period and not even a tiny bit of improvement in a cesspool May 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use, effective and non toxic We switched to the ZEP liquid septic tank treatment after using the powdered variety of septic tank treatment. The ZEP liquid is very simple to use, you just pour it in the toilet bowl and flush it down and it starts its job of breaking down the contents of the septic tank. No residual powdery mess in the toilet bowl, just one flush and its gone. There's enough fluid to treat 1,000 gallons so if you have a 500 gallon septic tank, there's enough for two treatments here. We normally treat our septic tank once every 2-3 months as needed. It is compatible with virtually all types of plumbing and most importantly, it is non toxic according to the material safety data sheet. November 24, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Large bottle means lasting value I used the 64 oz. bottle of Septic System and Cesspool Treatment as recommended by the manufacturer, I poured 32 ounces in the toilet and still have another 32 ounces to be used in 2 months. 2 equal treatments will achieve a prolonged septic system and cesspool treatment period. This product gives me greater long term security that the septic tank system won't overflow. December 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hmmm,,what to say about that! I mean this is a tough review to write. I have been using septic treatment for years. You add one half of a bottle of this product to your toilet water and flush. From there if everything is working right you never have to deal with a backed up septic system. Been there, done that and it really is not something you want to happen. So use this product every two months and that should prevent any trouble. January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Reasonably priced alternative I have a septic system and large family which means I need to keep my system healthy and working efficiently. I have used powdered alternatives in the past to treat my septic. But I always disliked the power dust cloud that came with their use. This is a liquid form. Simply pour into the toilet, flush and done. No powder cloud to inhale. Easy to use. The bottle says it will last for 2 monthly treatments. November 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Preventative treatment This advertises as a non-toxic formula that won't harm pipes. It is a large 64 oz. container, good for two treatments. Directions state flush down toilet every two months (32 oz. for a 1000 gallon septic tank.) The bacterial enzymes break down grease, paper, fats, proteins, and starches which will protect your system from backing up due to clogs. It is very expensive to dig a new drainfield so this product is worth buying. November 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Preventative Maintenance This is a good way to keep yourself from dealing with a septic tank back up. Just a few bucks and under a minute's worth of work for saving myself that trouble is well worth it in my book. Application is very easy - just flush it down the toilet. I flushed half down one toilet, and half down the other. It's supposed to be safe for all plumbing types too, so no worries figuring out if you've got cast iron, PEX, ABS, or PVC. The jug holds 64 oz of treatment, which is enough for a 1000 gallon septic tank. If you've got a 500 gallon tank, it will last for two applications. There's a press-and-turn child proof cap for storing the rest safely, and there's also a tamper evident safety seal under the cap. The jug pours well too - no drips ran down the side at all. There's a faint bit of odor, but it doesn't really smell much at all. November 20, 2015
