New Rod. It says pull apart to extend. I can twist only the small tube, and then only TOWARD me. But nothing happens. Is it defective?

I bought two different shower rods, one white, the other silver, both rusted after a couple months. I am thinking to buy a plastic one but have not found one yet. If this one does not rust, i will buy it.

If it rusts, i will return it. Thanks. If you have a plastic 40" shower rod, please let me know.

Answer:
Chris,
This rod is rust resistant and should last years, not months. Unfortunately all metal will eventually rust except aluminum and stainless steel, they are rust proof. If you are to have an issue contact us and I'm certain we will resolve any issues to your satisfaction.

Answer:
Hello Chuck,
This is a twist to tighten, tension rod. You just turn the rods in opposite directions to make the tubes longer or shorter. When the ends touch the walls just turn another 3 to 4 turns to tighten, please use caution not to over tighten though.
Thank you for your question.

Answer:
The minimum length of the rod is 24 inches. Since there needs to be some degree of tension for the rob to hold in place I would suggest the smallest space you use it in be no shorter than 25 inches.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install While this extendible rod is also available in a chrome finish, I chose this product specifically because of the powder coat finish. A combination of metal hooks and a moist environment were too much for our previous chrome finish rod -- it was losing its luster and it was increasingly difficult to slide the curtain open/close. Dislikes: The plastic ends (not rubber) don't seem to have much grip. The plastic collar (where the narrower rod telescopes into the wider rod) doesn't lock into place. If you overextend the rod, you'll hear a "click" when it slips the thread. September 26, 2008
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for a closet too! Like the other reviewer, I got this for my small closet, and it works great! Was very easy to install. Holds 6 shelf canvas organizer. Awesome product! June 2, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good for what it has to do. good product. works well. good weight and size. this product can be used for many different uses. November 6, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ROD! used this as a curtain rod for a closet in a rental house and works perfect! March 13, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dress it UP This shower rod will enhance the beauty of a bathroom. The right shower curtain must also be applied so that both curtain and rod are esthetically pleasing together. Even the tiles should be balanced with the rod so that the rod ends up to be an accent, although function, in the space it is installed. March 7, 2007
