Not to a supine or "Full Back" position but, rather, as the name implies, an angle so the shoulders and knees are about at the same level and the weight is lessened on the spine.

If you mean FLAT on your back, NO, that is what the "gravity" part of the chair helps with. Lying flat you have all your weight on your back which compresses the spine. These take the pressure points off the line of gravity and you will feel an immediate "AHhhhhhh" and smile come shortly after sitting down and pushing back to lay in the recumbant position....anyone can fall asleep in one! It's firm but then I only weigh 100 lbs. I think it's comfy though. You could add a long cushion to it if you want it softer.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Most comfortable chair! Feels like a cloud! I absolutely love this chair! It feels so light and doesn't put any pressure on my back at all. I can see the sky in full view with this chair, so it's great for stargazing! Absolutely recommend!! August 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! Bought this chair from Home Depot store in garwood nj... Its a good chair for relaxing while u watch your kids play outside June 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by THE BEST LOUNGE/LAWN CHAIR THE PERFECT WAY TO LOUNGE This is the best lawn/lounge chair i have ever had.......i feel like its heaven and its so comfy perfect for me and i am 5 feet 1..........i see some good reviews on it and i see some more negative reviews............if you want a lounge chair that just lays flat this isnt that but it is better and better for your legs..............the perfect way to lounge out back. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfy outdoor recliner Good quality, comfy, lightweight. Rapid delivery. Great bargain! May 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Material Ripped After only a couple months outside, sat down and material ripped and split when I sat down. Comfortable but Not recommended for outside use. August 10, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by screw. to hold it up............................. had to put a screw in it ............................. June 15, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable; but DON"T recommend for back surgery people Extremely comfortable when you are reclined in the chaise; but IF you have had multiple back surgeries like I have make sure you have someone near by to help you out! Great quality - has held up since April with being outside although I do not have set up all the time in the sun and rain. Good fabric choice, easy to wipe off & the dark colored frame will hide dirt. Tricky working mechanisms, make sure you put it up in the proper fashion and use the toggle switch on the side otherwise the chaise part that moves will get caught in the stationary part. A recommended chaise - great for a relaxed evening on your patio~ just have a friend IF you have had back surgeries or have rheumatoid arthritis - so comfortable; but a little tricky to get out of it - July 18, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by leaks rusty water the chair feels great but after rains I found the chair frames fill with water and becomes rusty and stains my pool deck and will not wash off. Cant recommend this to anyone using it outside which makes no sense since this is what it is sold for. March 21, 2016
