Will this hide spray paint on walls

Asked by: Kim
Yes, Rust-Oleum Zinsser CoverStain provides excellent penetration and flexibility and has excellent adhesion and stain blocking properties. CoverStain has excellent adhesion to dense, glossy surfaces such as enamel paints and varnishes, paneling, laminates, and ceramic tile without the need for sanding or deglossing. In most cases only one coat is necessary to prime most surfaces. If excessive absorption occurs over very porous substrates a second coat may be necessary.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from two coats fail to cover Redwood This is probably a totally adequate primer, but it fails to cover redwood. I used it to repaint some very old Redwood trim, parts of which had been taken down to bare wood. Even with two coats, the dark Redwood shows through.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Excellent Primer, EXCEPT worthless for redwood. This is an excellent heavy-bodied primer. However, the manufacturer claims it will seal redwood or cedar. I have tried many coats of this on redwood, and it is WORTHLESS. The tannins bleed through the primer in minutes, even after four heavy coats allowed to completely dry between coats. After this, the tannins bleed into a good top coat within minutes. Zinser (Rust-Oleum) needs to be honest and completely drop any claims about redwood and cedar.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work as stated! I used this product on a cedar fence that was aprox 3 months old. I waited 24 hours after application of this product. Every one of the stains/tannins bled through the finish paint. I had to re-prime with an oil based stain block primer and repainted, no visible stains in the finish. It cost me $$$$'s in more product and labor. I will not use this product again. Don't waste your money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is a great primer This is a great primer. It dries fast, goes on great, covers well, sticks to just about everything. The only problem I have is sealing tanin bleed of course I haven't found any water based primer that is good on stains. Other than that I love it.
