Answer:
Just make sure it is dry. If you leave the thick blob it won't dry in 24 hr and when you step on it it will squish out on your shoe.

Answer:
You would actually have to apply a 2nd coat after 24 hours to ensure sufficient time to dry. If it goes over 72 hours, you would have scuff sand the surface with 60 grit sandpaper. Rinse with fresh water, once it is dry you can recoat.

Answer:
Pools previously coated with a cement-based paint should be power washed to remove loose paint or excessive chalking. Repair any cracks and holes using hydraulic cement or a vinyl modified concrete patch. Chisel out cracks in the shape of an inverted “V.” Scrub the entire pool with a TSP solution, rinse with freshwater and allow to thoroughly dry. No primer is necessary.

Answer:
We strongly recommend applying Zinsser Swimming Pool Paint with a 1/2” nap roller or heavy bristled brush, and work coating into all pores, filling any openings, pin holes, etc. Applying this product with a sprayer will not recommend these pores, openings, and pin holes are thoroughly covered.

Answer:
Without knowing what the steps or slide are made of, it is hard to determine if Zinsser Swimming Pool Paint will work for your application. Zinsser Swimming Pool Paint can be used on plastered or other masonry surfaces. However, it is not intended for use on chlorinated rubber, fiberglass or two-part epoxy coated surfaces. Please call us at 888-855-1774 to discuss further.

Customer Reviews

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well. Need at least 2 buckets for normal size pool. I just got done putting 2 coats of this on my pool. 3 day job total to drain, prep, and paint. I have an older pool which is concrete/plaster coat on top of what looks to be almost pea gravel cement like a driveway. The walls are fiberglass, so they were not painted. Just to do the bottom of the pool and walls of the deep end with 2 coats took 2, 5 gallon buckets, so plan accordingly. I have not refilled the pool yet, so I can not say as to the durability. It looks great, goes on easy, and seems to do the job well. Buckets are heavy and awkward, so be prepared to stir/mix them with a big stick or drill paint mixer attachment. I drained the pool, pressure washed it with a hose attachment, filled cracks with hydraulic cement, scrubbed it, and swept it clean. I recommend this paint, and at the great price that HD has on it, it was an inexpensive way to make it look new! May 24, 2016
