I used this primer on bare wood: Poplar trim and birch plywood. It provides a good base coat for paint. It dries fairly fast for a latex/water based product and sands easily (1 coat used). Sanded with 150 grit. Overcoating with a good semi-gloss latex enamel gave an excellent finish (2 coats). I sprayed it with a Graco airless sprayer, as it was a large project. Using the 2 gallon size, it's a great buy. It worked as well in my application as the Paint Store brand (which was twice the price). I think for faster turn-around, the shellac based product is superior and from what I have read has better stain hiding. I can wait overnight before sanding and finish coating.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ferick Zinsser/Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Water Based Interior/Exterior Primer and Sealer (White)
Two coats are required for cover of stained wood to prevent bleed through and two coats are necessary for complete coverage on new wood. I haven't tried it on concrete block wall, yet. I have some oil based paint I've been using for that. The directions include surfaces the 1-2-3 may be used on and it includes concrete and steel. I have some new wood coated and still without top coat that is in excellent condition after two years of harsh winters and hot summers. It's a very thick paint and should be diluted with Floetrol. The 2 gallon pale gives a small price break over two 1 gallon containers.
My opinion: Best water based primer I've ever used, to my recall.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Prema Perfect for my old house
This product was easy to apply with a brush or sprayer and sealed an old house scraped to the wood so well it took much less paint that we expected. We used 14 gallons of primer and 11 gallons of paint on a 1200 sf house. The two gallon buckets were the best option for pricing. I'm very pleased.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Polly Covered water stains in one coat
After Hurricane Katrina I used 6 coats of Kilz to try and remove water stains on the ceiling. The brown stains kept coming through. The man at the hardware store told me to us Bulls Eye 1-2-3 and that covered the stains immediately. Since then I have used it on all my wood priming and it covers all the knots really well.

Very versatile primer. I chose this one to apply over galvanized drain pipe. Most paints cannot be directly used for this application.
