I have reused this tool many times. You may have to spend a few minutes removing some of the hairs from it though. I usually put some bleach and hot water to disinfect after every use. You can probably get 4-8 uses out of it before it's time to buy a new one.

I had this idea too when I first used this tool. But, to be honest, they are so effective and come out of your pipes so covered in horrid gunk (gunk previously clogging everything) that you won't even want to. They are so cheap. Just use a new one each time.

No, you do not have to remove the stopper before using as it will slide past. In my case, the stopper came off when I pulled this up so it might come off anyhow...

The best and easiest way is if you have access to the pipes under the sink.
you will need one or possibly two pairs of rather large channel lock pliers that can open up enough to turn the locking nuts on the P=Trap assembly then take it apart with a container underneath to catch the contents of that trap and release a your plastic tool as needed. then reassemble the P-Trap .... Of course while in there

Hi Mell - RednexToyz is correct. A little twisting or side-to-side jiggle usually does the trick. The same barbs that work to dislodge the hair and debris from the drain can also grab the linkage or branch within the drain. Please let us know if you have any additional questions regarding the product. Feel free to contact one of our Product Experts toll-free at 800-835-2200.

Twist it from side to side & gently push in & out a little. I find that the teeth get hooked on the underside of the sink drain & can be a little tough to get out at times.

As for your sink clog, may we suggest our encased sink cleaner (Item # BC90220-4 ¼” x 20’ Encased Sink Cleaner - see below)? It's easy to use, has a 20' reach and is designed for small drains like bathroom and kitchen sinks. Check it out and if you have any questions on the alternate product please do not hesitate to call our Product Experts toll-free at 800-835-2200.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 177 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This product works well I found this by doing a search on the website for something that would easily remove hair from a shower drain. I did not have a stoppage but I could tell the drain was slowing down. It is a little difficult to get down the shower drain but once it does get past the corner, it went in most of the way (to the T). When I pulled it up, it caught most of the hair along with some other nasty stuff. There was still a little hair right at the top of the drain that was caught after a second use. Now my drain works like new. This product was even in good enough shape that I was able to get the sink as well as the shower in the second bathroom. Overall, I am impressed with this product. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do for a very reasonable price. The only drawback is that the burrs break off during use which means it’s good for a couple of uses at most. August 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best little gadget The Zip it works every time, quick and easy and safe. For just a couple of dollars, you can save a ton on plumbers bills. I use it regularly in every bathroom. The drains now run fast and it helps keep the sink clean longer with no standing water creating a soap scum in the sink.......I highly recommend it. I got mine at Home Depot for less than $3.......... August 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best product ever My sink is no longer clogged. Took me 5 mins. I never write reviews but had to give 5 stars. August 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Worked great for me. Unclogged a drain in 10 minutes. August 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap, easy and quick I wish I had known about this product years ago. Stop wasting money on chemicals and just use this. It took maybe five minutes and the drain is perfectly clean. SO MUCH hair came out!!! It was amazing. August 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Zip it, Vinegar & Banking Soda (if still sluggish) I wanted to add, after we used Zip It in the kitchen sink it was still a little sluggish, so we did a banking soda and vinegar (sizzle bomb, then rinsed it down with hot water, waiting a few minutes) and then did the Zip It trick again, and now the drain is working 100%. So, if you don't have perfect results, it might take 2 approaches to get the job done. August 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beats the cost of a Plumber, and it works! My vinegar and baking soda trick just wasn't lasting, so I looked for a manual solution, and found Zip-It. At first, I thought my bathroom sink had a toothpaste clog, but it turned out to be hair. I don't even use this bathroom to do my hair, but hair falls out all over the house. It really cleaned out the drain. The Kitchen drain needs one more application and it will be perfect, but what a difference. August 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hair remover This is a great hair removal tool for both sinks and tub drains July 28, 2016
