Customer Reviews

Embossed White 12 ft. x 1 ft. Lay-in Ceiling Panel is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product for Ceiling Access I just finished installing a Zipup Ceiling System in a walkout level of my house. It is an area where I need access to phone, electric boxes, and TV cable so drywall would not work. I could have chosen drywall, but I would have needed access ports all over the place. I previously had a standard suspended ceiling and wanted something nicer. The Zipup System is better than the old suspended ceiling in both appearance and ease of access. The Zipup System is very well designed and can be installed by someone with a reasonable level of layout skills (suspended ceiling or flooring tiles) and tool skills. The Zipup videos are helpful, but do not address all the details. Zipup customer service" tanked" as they did not answer a question I emailed them; I made a decision without their advice and it worked. I gave this Zipup System a 4 rating because of the non-response customer service and because by its very nature it can't look as good as drywall (5 rating). Conventional suspended ceilings would get a 2-3 rating from me depending on the exact materials used. Zipup is better. Some installation notes: For longer panels (especially the "starter panels") you will need 2 people to install. You will use a lot of blades in your knife. The material is soft, but it is hard enough to break off the very point of the blades. Straight cut tin snips are definitely needed. A power miter saw is very useful; use a fine saw blade to avoid chipping. Final thought: I did my ceiling areas entirely in this product. It could be used in association with drywall (dropped to match the Zipup System) to create access channels/areas. Depending on your room this could be used as a design feature (it can be painted - I did not try painting). I am considering using it under or on the side of bulkheads; some interesting possibilities.
