Answer:
You don't connect the poles together to make the 30' barrier, they get installed vertically from floor to ceiling (and are adjustable from 4' 2" to 10' 3" in height).
You put pole #1 at a wall, come out 10' to pole #2, another 10' to pole #3, and the final 10' to pole #4 at the other wall; creating your 30' long barrier.
ZipWall recommends placing the poles no more than 10-12' apart, or closer if Read More

ZipWall recommends placing the poles no more than 10-12' apart, or closer if there is significant air movement. The thickness ("mil") of your plastic will also play a role -- too thin with too much air movement, and it's going to rip. Read Less

Answer:
I don't think so, the poles are actually plastic and the laser levels I've seen use magnetic attachment. If the laser level has a base that has a clip I believe the pole could support the weight of the level. These poles were clearly not designed for a large amount of weight, but that's not their purpose.

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 31 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Handy to have I purchased this to control some of dust from getting all over the place. This product was easy to use and did the job I needed it to do. I have a 8ft ceiling I used this on. May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Zip-wall is easy and amazing This product makes us look good!!! Couldn't be happier!!! :-) May 31, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not as good The zip wall of today doesn't compare to the zip wall that they made years ago. The zip walls of today are weaker and flimsier. January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Tool for the Price The poles were easy to use and we set up in a few minutes. Took more time to get the plastic unrolled then to assembly this tool. Wished I had bought sooner. December 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Zip Wall works well As a homeowner, I do many construction projects around the home that cause dust. The Zip wall really helps to keep that sheet rock dust to a minimum. December 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked as stated Very easy to use, even for one person. Love the extra room of the carry bag, allows for the storage of my plastic roll. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very helpful for solo jobs I do most of my work alone, but there always comes a time when a second person would make the job much safer or faster. This Zip Wall system is just what is needed. While it works great as a dust barrier, I have found it more valuable as a helping hand. Crown molding is always difficult to align and nail. With four adjustable poles, I can align two full pieces of crown molding before I start nailing. The spring loaded end provides just the right pressure to hold things in place and the poles are really easy to adjust. I set up a dust barrier to enclose the unfinished shower area in the new bathroom. I was skeptical about the stick on Zipper. However, they use a Butyl rubber that will never come off. The Zipper door actually works really well, great for a multi week project that needs to keep dust in and kids out. October 16, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Zip is the right word for this- it sets up fast. Sure you can use 2x4's but Zipwall is lightweight, FAST setup. I really like the carry bag. I used the poles to hold my light also. The skid discs are not needed at all. Definitely recommend this product. Very happy with it. August 5, 2015
