Under perfect conditions the Zircon Studsensor HD35 works well. I found lots of false readings when working on a wall with uneven joint compound. I also found many readings of a wire which interrupts/stops the stud finding ability when the basement wall I was working on was a little moist. The HD35 indicated wires where none were located. In some places my 20 year old Zircon stud finder did better on finished basement walls studded in front of concrete foundation. I expected the advanced technology of the Zircon HD35 to be better. I do like the red arrow that projects on the wall at the edge of a stud.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BJ Easy to find studs
This stud finder is the easiest we have ever had to use. Our old ones (at least 10 years) just didn't cut it. They were very frustrating to use. Now it's quick, easy and exact. Makes you want to hang more now. Yea!

Product was returned the same day it did not work. Found one with less value and worked as expected.

Works well for finding stud edges and even electrical wires hidden within the wall.

Good for regular build 1/2 inch drywall without exception. Does not work on ceilings with textured stucco. Would recommend the unit that allows for deeper thickness of surface condition

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by PCT I regret buying this
My walls are not over 3/4" thick and the battery is fresh, so those are not the problem. The thing gives wildly erratic readings, and I'm following instructions to the letter. Unfortunately I lost the receipt so I can't return it. But do yourself a favor and don't buy it.

Complete waste of money. Not only does it not detect known studs but it also gives out false positives - unless my home was built with studs spaced 8" apart. Even tested it in the garage which I had finished myself (so I knew where everything was) and it still failed to perform.

Will not calibrate. Does not detect anything. Ran it across know stud and it was not detected. Ran it across known electrical wiring and it was not detected.
