The stud finder works ok. It has a hard time telling the difference between studs and electrical lines under older lathe and plaster walls. But works well for newer sheetrock

Most of the time my Zircon gives me false readings. More than once I've made numerous passes to find where the stud exists and I will get conflicting readings which are often wrong. Plus, the electric sensor tries to tell me there is electrical wiring in places I know for a fact there is none. I can find a stud faster by tapping a wall with a hammer - back to the old fashion way of doing business. I think maybe someone produces a stud sensor that actually works, but this isn't it.

I was remodeling for 7 straight months and needed to use this product numerous times, but the false beeps finally got the best of me and I threw it away. As you move your hand on the wall, it'll beep once, you'll think you found the stud, but as you keep moving your hand it continues beeping as if the stud was 3 feet wide, then you let go of the button, go back and press again and it'll constantly beep again. Readings almost always are false. My walls were plaster about .75" thick.

I have had this for about 5 years now. Some days it works and others it doesn't. I don't see any marked difference with metal vs. wood studs, nor in plaster vs. drywall. I have to play with the modes (deep scan vs. regular) to get it to work sometimes. When I put my pencil near stud finder it to mark stud or if my hand position changes too much on the tool it messes up the calibration and results in false positives as well as missed studs.

First read the fine print. Then enjoy installing the 9V battery. When you open this item up, the electronics fall out. So be sure to be standing over a table. Then using your third hand hold the base, the electronics in place and slide the unit back together. Now for hope for smooth walls. If you are using on knock down or texture the velcro on the back will catch but it wears off soon enough. But the unit does work most of the time.

Bought this to replace a twenty year old Zircon that was inadequate in my newer home. Please spend an extra $30.00 and buy a good stud sensor. Many false readings, unable to locate studs near a corner, having to hold the button in all the time while using it I realized is a pain in the wrist.

This thing never worked well, but since I moved I finally realized just how terrible it is. It takes several attempts to get a reading even if you never let go of the button and there are plenty of false readings. It also drains the battery in just one day. When I first moved I used it for three consecutive days and every morning when I went to turn it on the battery was dead. I would not recommend this stud finder to anyone.

I'm very disappointed with this product. I had it for a few months before I first used it and it just doesn't work. The unit never comes out of calibrate mode. It constantly beeps and doesn't detect anything. Wish I'd kept my receipt on this thing so I could return it.
