If i order this 870 can i use it ,charge it in europe, 220v?

Asked by: Eray

Which model to choose?

I'm struggling to understand which of the many roomba models would be right for me. I live in a 900 sq. foot apartment in NYC. My main concerns are hair (from a very shaggy Mongolian rug, not a pet) and general dust. I have no stairs and a relatively simple floorpan. The floors are hardwood (except for that pesky longhaired rug). I'd be willing to splurge for the more expensive model, but don't know if I really need it. Any suggestions?

It does a great job of picking up hair and dirt in our condo. It does a pretty good job of navigating the space, despite many obstacles. The caveat here is that a Roomba is a bit like having a housepet, you need to pick up your cords every morning before it vacuums and maybe do a few other things to keep it from getting stuck or eating something. Unlike a housepet, it does actually make your house noticeably cleaner. One cool thing that isn't often mentioned is that it's very easy to buy replacement parts and repair it yourself if needed. Definitely nice on an expensive device.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love my irobot roomba I was nervous because I have heard mixed reviews, but so far, I love it! I have an American Bulldog that when she shakes it is like an avalanche- seriously. I also have had previous injuries which causes me to change the way I do things. Now I do not have to sweep much or vacuum because I can set the irobot to clean and it does a great job getting the fur and even dirty that she brings in from the yard. It is easy to empty as well. I did find it confusing that the manual gave instructions for different parts/pieces that I dont have such as a different type of tower or a remote that was not included. Other than that, I would definitely recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Considerably better than 700 series I have worn out one of almost every series of Roombas, back to ones that wouldn't do rug fringes (I turned them under). I have a big house, several animals and a messy child. My 700 series was nice, and better than all the previous series but it started dying... random loud clicking noises, running loud, and not picking up very well. I took it apart and found nothing I could easily fix. So I splurged and got one of the new 870s; the fact that it was a major redesign caught my interest. I don't schedule my Roomba at all; I'm an emergency physician and my schedule is random. When I'm at home I put Roomba down in a room and run it until the battery is dead, cleaning it out on a regular basis. So I don't need programming. I just used the new 870 last night for the first time. I put it in a dirty room, cleaned it out when it was full, and put it back down. I thought there was a problem because a few minutes later I noticed that the "full" light was on, and I'd had problems with the 700 series and previous not turning off their "full" lights until you turn it off and on again. Nope, I checked it and it was full already. The new brush design is much more effective than that used in the past few series' brush decks. The filter's a bit hard to get out and back in, but other than that, extremely pleased. It is quieter than the 700 series (when my 700 series was new), and it picks up twice as much stuff in half as much time. Rugs are much cleaner; dog hair that was stuck to the rug and the 700 series wouldn't pick up (even when new) got picked up right away. This is not only the best Roomba by far, but a big jump from the 700 series. Get one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Marked Improvement Initially skeptical about the new rollers replacing the brushes. Quickly began to appreciate the cleaning power of the stronger air flow and no more cleaning of the brushes. The ends of the rollers still need cleaning but easier. Impressed that less carpet fibers are found in the dust bin and that the dust seems finer (size), helping with allergies. Maybe even less buildup on the HVAC filters? Noticed better cleaning of high traffic carpet vs the 700 series we've used for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW. so amazing It picks up and slightly buffs floor. Easy to clean daily with a small dust buster. takes about 1 min.i have a large dog and a baby. it keeps hair off the floor daily. the bin is full everyday. I never realized the floor hid that much dirt. I am so relaxed knowing I wont have to clean floor when I get home.I watched it the first couple of days, and its very smart. Will get itself unstuck from most uneven surfaces. Buy an extra tri blade though. I have sharp corners and it pulled one of the bristles off but that was after several months of daily use. I have recommended the krackin to everyone I know with dogs and hardwood floors. Keep up the great work Roomba guys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rosie gets it done! I didn't need an 870, my old Roomba 551 was working just fine. But, I have a chow chow, and her hair would get in the brushes and it took me a while to clean the brushes every couple of days. The 870 is just what I wanted . . . with the rubber rollers. I didn't need the virtual lighthouses and the remote control that come with the 880. I don't remember life without a Roomba, but I must have spent much more time vacuuming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from He Likes to Go Fast! We purchased Ricky Bobby after our 7-month-old vacuum robot from a different company stopped working. The first thing I noticed was how much faster the Roomba cleaned (resulting in Ricky Bobby as the robot's name). The Roomba 870 does a fantastic job around the house, climbing over cords, avoiding other obstacles, and performing a rather thorough clean (for a robot--my sweeping job is much better). Our Roomba has become stuck at the top of the stairs more than once, but not every time it approaches. Overall, we're delighted and wish we would have bought this one first!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LOVE IT! I've been wanting this for so long! I finally bought one and absolutely love it. We have hardwood floors throughout most of the house. The exception is tile in the bathrooms and carpet in the bedrooms. We have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 5 adults and 1 baby (a little over a year old). Needless to say, we have a busy house. I run Rosie every morning at 5am (before anyone gets up). I only run her downstairs (haven't tried the upstairs carpets yet). I don't hear her in the morning unless I'm already up so she is quiet enough that she doesn't wake anyone. The amount of hair and dust that she collects on a daily basis is amazing! She runs for about an hour to an hour and a half before she docks again. I'm not sure if this is because of the battery or because she's done. Either way, the floors are clean. We do have to empty her after every use and my husband uses his air compressor to blow out (clean) the air filter and the dirt container, but it's still easier than vacuuming daily. The other day, there was a AA battery in the dirt container. I'm not even sure where it came from, but she found it and collected it! She's only got stuck once under the dishwasher so we put baseboard in there to prevent her from going too far under. My office files have just under a 4" leg and she successfully cleans under them. Granted, she can't get under all the furniture, but neither can my old vacuum. Once a week we put the dining room chairs and barstools up off the floor so she can get those areas. So far I'm very pleased with her and I would buy one again.
