A friend gave me this heater when I ran out of heating oil last year and said this heater would warm up the place until I could get my oil refilled. I don't have the manual for it and I would like to know if it would be safe to use again this year.

It is a no-frills basic heater which is all you really need. It keeps small rooms nice and toasty-warm. It keeps our bedroom (at 272 sq ft) warm enough to be comfortable as well. I prefer to sleep in a cool room (high 60's) and get my warmth from blankets and body heat between my wife and myself, so consider that when making a decision. Assembly took less than five minutes. The only thing that this heater lacks is protection to keep small hands from getting burned when touching it, but it does not get so hot that it would blister from a quick touch but it would be very uncomfortable. If it had some sort of touch protection I would have given it five stars.

I bought it a couple of days ago, to use while out in the garage, and it works very well. In addition to wattage, Home Depot rates their heaters based on size of room. This heater has the same wattage as smaller heaters, but is specified as "Large" room. For $40, it was totally worth it.

I have one in my living room, bedroom and kitchen. They throw enough heat to where I don't have to turn on the heat. I have a 1500 sq ft home and these heaters do the trick just fine and cheaper per month than turning on the furnace.

This Pelonis heater, model Ho-0228D, was used for several days for guests in the past year and then suddenly stopped working. I bought this model last year, probably from Home Depot in Champaign, Illinois. Should I throw this into the trash although it looks like new? Nana
