Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Versatile Ryobi Gas Trimmer I had used a Ryobi gas trimmer several years ago and since then had tried models from several manufacturers. When I was in the market for a new one after moving to a new house, I purchased another Ryobi. It is lightweight, easy to start, and runs great. The Expand-It feature makes it easy to add attachments. I purchased the edger and blower attachment and they work great. I especially like the edger blades that are reversible so you can get more life from a new blade. It is very handy to have one tool that can do three jobs. I highly recommend this product and also recommend that you get additional attachments to get the most value out of the product. May 18, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by So far, so good Apparently there are conflifting starting instructions for this trimmer. The owners manual and the starting instruction insert. The owners manual instructs the operator to never squeeze the throttle when you are trying to start and the insert tells you just the opposite. Go with the insert, and starting is very easy. Bought one of these and I followed the owners manual starting instructions and could not get it to start, took it back to HD, the manager of the garden dept. took it outside and it started right up. I asked him what he did and he told me that you have to squeeze the throttle in order to start it. May 17, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Didn't survive the first day I bought this in the store without reading the reviews. I should have done my research first. While most of the reviews address hard starting and other engine problems I did not have that experience. What I did have was a problem with the head which was not only a pain to reload but after the second reload of line quit working. It spools out line from two sides of the head but when one side clips off and sucks back into the head there is no way to get it back out. I can turn the center head screw but all it does is rotate the drive shaft with no way to lock it down. I could try some other things but risk destroying it completely. Since this was the 1st day out of the box I think I'll take it back to HD. May 17, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by wont buy ryobi trimmer again ran okay for about one season, has power to cut grass and small weeds, not much else as it is easily tangled in anything longer than 4 inches and you have to stop to untangle it. also runs out of gas pretty quickly and never could finish yard in one tank (i live on only one acre of land) wouldn't stay running longer than 30 seconds after first season due to fuel leak. had to get a different trimmer after fuel lines came loose from the tank and started dripping gasoline from where the rubber meets the plastic tank (didn't leave it with gas in tank when storing.) wasn't worth repairing for the price I paid for it. left feeling ripped off June 14, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Low Quality Hard to Start I really wish I had read the reviews on here before buying this weedeater. It has always ran a bit "off" since I got it and is not easy to start. After it is already warm you have to go through all the steps to get it to restart again. Biggest complaint though is after having it for about a year the pull string just randomly stopped spooling back up and now it is completely usless. I have several attachments for this thing too, to do yard work, so now I cant do any yard work until I get another weed eater. Definetly looking at reviews this time. June 9, 2012
