As noted, this rod support bracket will break, usually after years of overloaded service. Replacing one is cheap, and quick. Not noted by reviewers is that if you overload the system, as most of us probably do, you can add more of these brackets along the rod--you do not have to pair them with a shelf support bracket (the one that goes to the wall). If you really like to load the shelves and rods, then either install wall and rod brackets every two feet (2'), add additional supports in an existing installation, or look for a more expensive solution. This product is a nice balance of price/performance/ease of installation. With reasonable expectations, you will be pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Zoey Great product that serves its purpose well
This support bracket does exactly what its supposed to (support the rod) & it does it well. It does cause the bar to hang a bit lower than it it were attached directly to the metal shelves, so if the height of the bar will be an issue, make sure to plan for that in advanced. Otherwise it's great for adding a hanging rod to any set of shelves! Fairly quick & easy to assemble as well. It is made of plastic, so I don't think it would support a great amount of weight, but for clothes it seems to be working just fine.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by PtaMom Does the job
The product does the job. It's a little difficult to install and they get brittle with time and need to be replaced. They are getting harder to find. Still like having the pole better then the newer version where there is just a wire to put hangers on.

The ClosetMaid closet rod support bracket UPC #5629 is weak where the shelf hooks in the front of the bracket.
I installed three of these on a 5" rod and two have broken. And needless to say everything ended up on the floor.

It does the job, the price was right, and it takes NO TOOLS to install. I can't believe that I let my closet be a mess for so long when it was such an easy fix. Priced much much less than the value of having my curtain rod work. Thanks Home Depot. Also, I ordered it online, picked it up at the store, it was ready. Perfect service, no hassle.
