I normally don't write reviews however as a owner of a The UPS Store we needed a heavy duty hand truck for the amount of shipping we do. The first hand truck we ordered came with the entire right wheel mount (aluminum piece) that holds wheels to frame sheered completely off! So I wrestled it into a truck and my employee and I went down to our local store to return it and hopefully get a new one in better condition.
We had the second one shipped not to us but to the Home Depot. All looked good and we unloaded it at the our store we missed the fact that the locking mechanism on one side is not holding properly! So it could spring open anytime when you have a heavy load on it. Ok, so now it sits at my store with two metal shims placed on the loose locking mechanisms to keep it from springing open. At this point I'm going to work on a way to fix it and keep it because I don't have the time to return it a second time. The other issue is a lot of the bolts holding it together were very loose and took a few minutes to tighten up which shows a lack of QC.
I think excessive rough handling in shipping and warehouse department is partly to blame. I can expect this on a cheap hand truck but not at this price level. This is a honest review from a busy shipping store and we need something that will last. Time will tell, but this is not a good start for this hand truck.

The dolly wheels swivel uncontrollably and will get under the load and make it unstable. The locking mechanism for the dolly wheels is in a location where it can be inadvertently released or will hinder the use of the hand truck. IE unloading from the back of a truck or sliding down a set of stairs.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by none Works fine but the tires smell awful!
The tires smell so bad that I can't store them indoors. I've had them sitting outside for a month hoping the smell would wear off but they still stink. Had I known they'd smell this bad I would have not ordered the product. Any value that this unit has over it's higher priced competition is negated by the hassle of removing and storing the tires and/or the cost to replace them with something better. I would gladly have spent more for a product that didn't have such cheap tires.
Also, the shipping carton it came in was not strong enough to properly protect the item and the dolly was twisted because of it. I was able to straighten it partially but it still doesn't sit right. I guess you get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by FarmGirl Convertible and Strong, yet Lightweight
We have owned this hand truck for over 2 years and use it several times a day on our farm, moving feed sacks and hay bales -- not to mention the occasional use to move heavy equipment, tools, etc. Very convenient to have the option of laying it down on 4 wheels, as well as using it the conventional way. While it is more expensive than other hand trucks, this one will stand up to hard use and makes moving anything easier. Because it's aluminum, it is easy to handle, but strong enough for heavy weight. I would definitely recommend this to anybody looking for a tough hand truck that will last for years.

If you need a strong, flexible convertible hand truck, buy this one, period. Coverts from cart to dolly in 3 seconds, stores out of the way, unbelievably adept at numerous chores. I hauled a 650 lb Komodo Kamado grill, machines, firewood, furniture, bricks and an entire household without problem. The large air tires inflate easily with a cheap bicycle pump. It moves across pavement or lawns with ease.
It is intelligently designed and extremely well built.
