I generally replace my drinking water cartridges every six months. I bought this filter as the old in-line version previously available was no longer stocked. Fourteen months later, I have been unable to find a replacement filter from any local supplier. The listed replacement, if you could find it, appears to be double the price of the old in-line version. I have changed back to the more inexpensive in-line although I had to shop elsewhere to find one.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Ollie Good filter - Poor base.
Filter worked fine, until I changed it the first time. Something in the base broke and would not allow water to flow..

This filter has a "no shut-off replacement" feature which is nice...when it works. Unfortunately the "cam" that operates the internal push valve feature fails and the filter will not flow any water. Mine failed after the first filter change! On my filter you can see the problem by twisting the filter the last 1/4" and the water will flow, but it will not lock into place. It is a problem with the filter canopy not the filter cartridge, I tried another filter cartridge and still had the problem. An internet search confirmed that others have had the same problem.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by bleeblarblee Easy to install, doesn't leak.
Purchased a similar product from an "other" home improvement store. Instructions were junk and the unit leaked like crazy.
This GE model is much easier to install with clear instructions, it doesn't leak, and the water tastes great.
This in-line fridge filtration setup is much better than an on-the-faucet setup, which takes up space and obviously doesn't filter ice cubes.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by SBTampa Great Tasting Water & Ice - Easy Install - NO LEAKS
The summary really does say it all. Bought this system 6 months ago. It installed in less than 15 minutes - most time consuming was making sure we knew which tube to cut and deciding where to mount the filter. Is worth the few extra dollars to get this quick change system!
