I bought this hammer for bigger jobs that my 16 oz Estwing wasn't meant for. After a few days, this became my main hammer. I have used it to tear out walls, flooring, windows and used it to rebuild the walls and replace the flooring. I had a 22 oz Estwing back in high school, but in the process of my move, it got lost somewhere and when I needed it, it was nowhere to be found. All is right in the world now, when I do home improvement and this hammer is on my tool belt. It has many scratches and such from repeater use on the head, and even paint on the grip from painting and using it to hammer the lids down. My father in law likes it as well, but more partial to his Estwing 20 oz he bought in the early 80s. I look forward to a lifetime of use with it and hopefully will get handed down to my kids so they can keep the pinger alive.

I use ALOT of hammers of different brands....stanley, bostitich, Vaughan, Dalluge etc.......but the Estwings are in my tool pouch and bags now. I am a professional remodeler who does a wide range of tasks......so I prefer steel hammers. Steel eliminates the worry of wood or fiberglass handles breaking.......but the trade off has always been fatigue due to vibration. I recently discovered an easy way to test the level of vibration. Simply hold the hammer lightly by the head......and bang the handle on a firm surface......concrete....wood....whatever. You will feel the vibration in the head and shaft. Of course.....with all steel hammers....there will be vibration.......but the Estwings vibrate the very least.....and dissipates almost immediately.! The "vibration absorbing grip" that they claim......really works! I did some heavy demo work with a different brand one day......banging prybars etc.....and felt it in my elbow at the end of the day. Then did the same type of demo with the Estwing.....and felt......nothing at the end of the day! Also......banging framing nails and joist hangers all day made me appreciate the superb balance of the Estwing hammers. My "arsenal"......is now ALL Estwing! It is a great thing to be able to rely on ONE brand to fulfill ALL my needs. Rugged, simple, effective, and super durable.........it's no wonder these hammers are hanging from more tool belts than any other brand! Awesome.

I admit it.....I'm a hammer junkie. I have Stanley\Bostitch\Dalluge\Vaughan etc....wood handles...steel handles...fiberglass....smooth face, waffle face, and grit face.
However, I recently went to an Estwing, and I am writing to say thank you! I used to carry a lot of hammers in the truck....but now I only have 3....all Estwings. The 22oz smooth for Demo, Framing and Decks, the 20oz smooth for sheathing, light frame, light demo and general work, and the 16 oz smooth for Trim and finish. The balance on your hammers is superb....and the handle is absolutely perfect for grip, and vibration absorption. I have no doubt I will continue to be an Estwing user. So again, thank you for allowing more space in my truck!....and making such a well crafted hammer.
