Don't be an idiot and expect a 10 year door for a hundred bucks. That is called being cheap! I read reviews about how the door corroded from the inside out. So when I bought my door I also bought a tube of clear silicone for $4 and I siliconed the very bottom of the door because it was opened to the wood. I also siliconed all joints and I loosened all screws and siliconed before tightening back up. I did this because I live in the northeast where snow will pile up against the bottom of the door. It took me 10 minutes to silicone everything. I let it dry for 2 hours. It then took me about 45 minutes to install because I read the directions twice and install once!

I installed this door in 2007 and this week I finally had to contact the manufacturer for warranty replacement. The door has rotted from the inside, the particle board is rotting so badly, the glass almost fell out, when I press on the panels, the door no longer feels solid, but spongy. I removed the window and examined the wood, which was almost solid black and crumbles to the touch. I strongly urge people to save your receipts, because if this door gets wet, and most storm doors do, it will only last a few years. I loved the door when I first installed it, it had a reasonable price and was easy to install. The manufacturer said wrapped in vinyl, but it just has vinyl pieces glued over the particle board, easily allowing water to get inside. The door should have been sealed in vinyl instead.
When my warranty claim is processed, I will be upgrading to an aluminum door instead.

Purchased two EMCO 100 series storm doors, 36" 1.5 years ago, and 32" 1 year ago. The wooden core in both doors have rotted and caused a stong mouldy smell inside the house. The door has warped because of the rotten core, and the glass fell out of the 36". The core is covered under warranty with EMCO/Anderson, so now in the process of making a warranty claim. Do not waste your money on this door, spend the extra and get a door without a wooden core. It will save you a lot of grief in the end.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by georgiabuckeye Great door for the money
The door is a great value for the money. The only thing that could be improved upon is the screen at the bottom of the door. The screen should be at the top of the door to avoid pet and child screen destruction. I'm looking for a replacement already (have had less than a month) as the frame and screen are ruined.

Since it's only my wife and I now, we decided to go with this door. It was easy to install, and appears to be sturdy. As to whether it holds up and the particle board core doesn't disintegrate like other reviewers claim is yet to be seen. I use spray automotive wax on my exterior and garage doors twice a year to repel water, so that may help. Although I like this door, there are a couple factors I feel should be considered. First, the hinge bushings are plastic, not brass. If this door will be installed in a high usage area, this will probably be the second area to fail. The first area is the screen. The screen should be on the top, and, it is not installed well at the factory. We had to push the strip that holds the screen in at 2 points on the door. Other than that, this is a great door for the price.
