I went to Home Depot to get the Gorilla Shelving Unit which I did not see. I got the Edsal. It was the same price and same size. What appeared to be an easy set up and should only take 15 to 30 minutes was a major MAJOR pain. (see photos). I had to remanufacture most of the parts. I am not a handy man, but I wanted to get this thing set up and move on. The post do not fit into the post clips. I had to widen the clip a bit. I had to re-sqaure the post. And sadly the boards were in horrible shape (see photos). After a few cut fingers, I got it set up and it will do. I recommend setting it up right where you want it because it falls apart when you try to move it an inch or two.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by HDKevin Good frame, weak shelves
This shelving unit has been good to me, however the particle board shelves are of poor quality. The wood is sunk in the middle now and I'm reluctant to put excess weight on it. 2 people makes assembly easier but it can be done with one. I would recommend replacing the supplied wood with 3/4 plywood if you really have a lot of weight to handle.

Using two sets in my garage. It works great and holds a lot of heavy tools and boxes. I would buy another one if I had more space in the garage. I like how sturdy the shelving unit feels. You can even store car tires if you pull the bottom shelf out (which we have done in the past). It's a great set of shelves to get organized.

Recommended as shelving unit, NOT AS WORKBENCH.
Easy to assemble (better with 2 people). Solid and strong as shelving unit.
HOWEVER, NOT GOOD AS WORKBENCH despite being advertised as such. The vertical steel corner posts extend about 3/4" ABOVE the horizontal shelf, thus does not allow large items to lie flat and gets in the way in general. AND, in my opinion is a hazard. Easy to scratch/scrap hand on protruding steel corners of vertical support.
Same unit purchased several years ago did not have priblem. Top of vertical steel supports were level with the shelf.
I used the newly purchased unit for shelving and reassembled the old one as a work bench.

Easy to assemble until you get to second level, then it becomes very flimsy and hard to align. Once the shelves are assembled they feel strong until you try to pick it up and move it; it then falls apart if you barely lift up on any shelf, you have to push, pull or slide it. Poorly designed, I would not buy this particular shelf again, it really looks like they were trying to save money by manufacturing this with the bare minimum amount of metal - the steel frame is paper thin. The best heavy duty shelf I have ever bought was a shelf called "Gorilla Shelf" now that's a strong and very well designed unit. I should have bought those again instead.
