CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 21 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Decent for interior trim - does not react well to high temperature locations I have used this product for many years and never had a problem. It paints over well and does not shrink too much when dry. I recently sealed a tongue/groove ceiling treatment using this product and after 6 months it has yellowed and cracked badly in many places. I guess the higher temperatures in the ceiling were too much. Bummer - took me 2 days and 15 tubes to complete. Will have to redo that with a better suited product. May 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Product Good quality , matches the satin white from val-spar . October 21, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by This stuff is garbage We used this caulk on our woodwork before painting everything white. The coverage seemed good at first, but a year later, it's cracked in many places and we need to re-caulk. Wish we would have used a better quality product! May 28, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by READ THE CURE TIME! The cure time is 168 hours! That means this product must not get wet for at least 168 hours if it is to adhere properly. With this in mind we can see that one must remember to keep this stuff dry for the entire cure time if it is to last for 35 years. Do not use this product in bathrooms or kitchens unless paint will be covering it. For unpainted applications you must use a silicon caulk like GE Silicon II. Latex doesn't last long if it gets wet. The only reason for using latex caulk is that paint will stick to it. Paint does not stick to Silicon. January 21, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Low cost and easy to apply, but poor flexibility Easy to apply, water cleanup. Commonly used by the DIYer. However note that the joint movement allowance specified on the DAP website for this product is only +/- 12.5% . If your application experiences temperature and humidity swings, it will most likely crack (it has happened to me on numerous window area joints). For a high flexibility use an elastomeric caulk, which advertise over +/- 25% joint movement. The consumer grade would be DAP Dynaflex 230. There are also other professional grade caulks that are better (e.g. Tower Tech 2 or Big Stretch). So in summary, this stuff is only acceptable for interior joints with a constant temperature and humidity. But for just a few more bucks per tube you can use a professional grade caulking.
