PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Whole House Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) are designed to deliver surge suppression that addresses the entire home. Surges can enter your home’s electrical system externally (e.g. lightning or utility surges) or most often, can be generated within the home by other equipment and appliances. Point-of-use plug strips with surge suppression are good secondary suppressors for equipment that can be plugged-in. However, a primary Surge Protective Device (SPD), such as a Square D brand Whole House Surgebreaker Plus installed at the load center, reduces large surges to manageable levels. Even more, it helps protect the thousands of dollars in equipment that can't be plugged into a plug strip (e.g. washer, dryer, HVAC, stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, lighting). Square D brand Whole House SPDs combine AC suppression with coaxial cable and telephone suppression in one product. These additional modules help protect systems and devices throughout the home from surges that come through telephone/DSL and cable/satellite video and data wires. The SDSB1175C is NEMA 1 rated for indoor applications. For indoor/outdoor applications, consider the SDSB1175R. It is the same product but in an enclosure that provides a NEMA 3R rating for indoor/outdoor applications.
