This may prove to be a durable product but my pattern, black slate, was very difficult to install. It resisted locking together and the symbolic grout line patterns were very inconsistent. This is the third room where I have installed laminate flooring. The other two rooms were done with Armstrong laminate which was much easier to install and was very true to consistent patterns. I think that the attached underlayment on this product is a plus. The instructions appeared at first to be very thorough but ended up skipping a couple of very crucial steps.

This floor was done by a "newbie" doing this kind of thing. It was my 1st try at it...but I will say the job wound up coming out great !!
I panicked at 1st and almost called up Home Depot to get an installer in here fast. But after a few extra hours of mental torment, I decided not to and got it in on my own.
I don't know how most of the people who installed this floor on their own managed to install it in only a few hours. It took me days !!
But after all the black dust and the struggles to move a stove and a refrigerator in and out was done....the finished product looks great and well worth the time and effort put into it.
I bought the black flagstone, tile look flooring and it's true that the picture of the individual tile online does not represent what it looks like. The floor looks much more like the picture of it laid down in the whole room instead. It's mostly a dark charcoal looking color. Very close to being black.
Don't be afraid to use it though...It is a beautiful looking floor !!
I thought it was going to make my small kitchen look even smaller because it's so dark, but it doesn't. It makes it look very classy.
The flagstone pattern looks so real and even feels real.
I chose to let the grout lines run in an even square pattern, but you could stagger them for another look if you wish. You would just have to purchase some extra tiles so you don't run out because if you stagger the pattern, you'll have to cut off half a tile at the end of each row.
I would recommend buying an extra box anyway, just in case you make a mistake, or to have some at home, if an accident destroys a piece in the future.
I have to say that nobody warns you about all the cutting you'll have to do to fit this stuff under your kitchen cabinets, doorways, etc. But a circular saw does do an easy job of it, as long as your cuts don't involve any difficult corners or angles.
I used the pull bar sold at Home Depot, a mallet, a block of wood, some glue, a razor cutter, spacers, a level and a carpenter's square to get the job done.
I needed the squaring tool because my cabinets are at an angle underneath, where they end at my door.
In addition to the circular saw, you'll likely need a jigsaw or another small saw, and possibly a hand saw to under cut your doorway moldings.
Also...don't forget to purchase all of your trim pieces to finish off the floor in doorways and the end of a step if you have any. I had one going down to my basement, so I needed that trim piece.
If possible, cut your laminate flooring outside !! It makes a tremendous amount of dust. Also wear a dust mask because it smells terrible and it will clog up your nose from sawing it so close to your face if you don't.
After all of this, and now that the floor is finally down in my kitchen, it really does look beautiful. I had an off white linoleum that was driving me crazy in there. Looked dirty after cleaning it in just one day's time. Thankfully, it's now all gone !!
And the good thing about it was...I didn't have to remove it before installing the laminate.
It went right over it 1 - 2 - 3 !!
All I did, was nail down all the loose ends that would stay underneath the new laminate flooring.
After going through what turned out to be a four day installation time, I'm hoping this floor is as durable as everybody says it is. Some said it scratched easily, so I hope that isn't true.
I don't have any pets running around it, but you never know what will happen when you start moving furniture pieces around, or bringing something heavy through the room.
I haven't tried cleaning it yet, so I can't tell you how that will go. I've only swept it with a broom. It seems like I'll be able to simply damp mop it with plain water ( unless it has something sticky or food dropped on it) and it will look like new again.
I had some difficulty getting this floor in, but it was likely because it was a kitchen and I had so many angle cuts to make. It would probably be a lot easier if I laid this floor down in a bedroom or living room, or if I had better tools to do the job. Unfortunately, my tools were limited.
In ending my review, I have to say that the flooring was inexpensive to buy and install.
Some people tried talking me into using a real wood floor or ceramic, but I opted for the laminate for it's ability to self install and it's low cost.
I did a 10X10 kitchen for less than $400. Home Depot had free delivery, so I saved that expense, too. It was well worth it. I can't take my eyes off of it now that it's done.
If you decide to install one of Home Depot's laminate floors, be assured you will save lots of money and you will have a wonderful looking and feeling floor when your done.
It won't hurt your pocketbook much either.
Good Luck and Enjoy !!

Originally had intended on installing a high quality vinyl floor. While looking at different flooring options, stumbled upon this. The photos looked nice but was unsure if it actually felt like slate or just looked like it. Requested a sample and we were quite pleased with the feel.
Installation was easy. Installed this in my kitchen and mud room. We have only had it installed a month so time will tell regarding the durability. For the money, a good floor material and very easy to install. Very dusty when cutting so wear a dust mask.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Lynn Beautiful floor that is easy to install
We installed this floor in our bathroom almost a year ago and are still receiving compliments on how great it looks. We did not have any experience installing laminate flooring and found this product to be wonderful for first timers - as it includes the backing and easily snaps together. I highly recommend this product.
