The replacement of snow machine skid shoes is inevitable, so why would anyone replace them with the same steel material? These will eventually wear down, but they are adjustable and then reversible (turn them over to use the opposite side), so they should last for quite a few seasons. The polyurethane composition does not damage the underlying surface while also protecting the main body of the machine.

This is how Ariens makes extra $$$! The skid shoes that come as standard with the snowthrower are metal and boy do they scratch up concrete. These shoes are made of a very hard plastic and much friendlier to your hard surfaces. Unless you don't care or have a gravel driveway, I would recommend swapping our the metal shoes with these.

Found that the steel skids on my new SnoTek 20 snowblower left marks on my new pavers, so ordered these polymer skids online (not available in store). They installed easily and left no marks on the driveway after first use last week. Not sure how quickly they will wear, however, and at $38 per pair, could boost cost of ownership.

If you like the way your driveway looks, then this is a no brainer. No marring or scratching your nice pavers or concrete.
