INSTEON is a powerful, home-control networking technology that will enhance the comfort, safety, convenience and value of your home. The INSTEON Access Point (& Wireless Phase Coupler) is dual-band (RF + powerline) device which is the most important part of the INSTEON network. When used in pairs, Access Points will couple the electrical phases across common two-phase wiring systems, allowing INSTEON commands to freely travel to all locations in your home.Dual-band INSTEON products (such as Access Points) allow RF-only INSTEON devices to send (and receive) commands to (and from) power line-only INSTEON devices as well as repeat the commands to other RF-only devices. While at least one (1) dual-band INSTEON product is required when using an RF-only INSTEON device, at least two (2) dual-band INSTEON products are recommended to ensure reliable communication across common two-phase home wiring systems. For larger applications, it is recommended to install at least one dual-band INSTEON product for each 750 - 1,000 square feet.A pair of Access Points can be purchased separately. Refurbished Access Points are also available individually or as a pair - refurbished models offer the exact same features at a lower cost.
