I bought two of these barrels to replace plastic garbage cans I had been using for rain barrels. Initially, they worked well, but come winter and ice in the bottom and I found, next spring, leaks from rather large cracks in the bottom. This barrel is not designed to endure the rigors of a northeast winter. My recommendation is to buy a used polyethylene food rated barrel, used to ship pickles, olives, etc. in shipping containers. Very robust and winter worthy.

I would not recommend this barrel--too flemsy and the bottom came apart and the rainwater leaked out. I have two other barrels that have worked fine, but are much sturdier and solid. The Rescue barrel came apart and I had to glue it together after only a month of use.

I'm very pleased with the multifunctional rain barrel. I can fill my watering can from the top. . . or, use the very handy faucet. The one thing that my husband pointed out while determining location for our two rain barrels is to make sure they are not sitting on the ground. We found it most beneficial if they were elevated (about one foot) to help the flow for more pressure out the faucet.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by weavercs trash can rain barrel
had to buy plastic epoxy to repair the cracks that continue to show up .. this is during the summer. Very unhappy with this rain barrel. My water hose fitting does not fit the spigot. Over all not a very good choice.

I've had this for 10 months now. you get what you pay for, and I only paid $70 with free shipping. there were a few hairline cracks in it and now the bottom is completely cracked. I bought a used 55 gal food container that I refurbed and it's doing a lot better. the material is only fair at best and the lid fits poorly. the base has to be completely flat and level, otherwise, the weight of the water will cause cracks and eventual failure. don't think I can recommend it.
