I'm the one saying that the most I'd get from the 8 roots I planted is about 70%. However, they are all out after one month waiting.

I bought 2 packages, or 8 plants. I understood that they're shipped as bare roots with 2-3 eyes. 4 of 8 were good and they have grown out of the ground in 10 days. Two were with 1-2 tiny eyes, and I'm still waiting to see it out. The final two were about 2", appeared to me as two piece of dry wood with no eyes at all. I planted them all by following the instructions carefully, but I'm afraid the most I will get is around 70% of what I paid for.

If you want to plant a perennial and hot have to divide and replant every few years, then peonies are for you. Plant it, and the only thing you have to do is clean up the dead foliage the next spring. With double peonies like this one, you might have to give them some support while they're blooming, but that's not very time consuming. The only thing I don't like about peonies is that they attract ants just before they open, so don't plant them too close to your house.
