Product works great, for about a year. Then it loses it's calibration. Still, if you can afford to buy a new one, every year, it's a very handy tool. In my business, checking building heating systems, and boilers, sometimes pipes are 15 feet away, above me. This thermometer really helps.
Plus the battery is quick to recharge. The recharger can be used to test the battery.
Perhaps I bought a lemon. However, I have since bought another one, and am still happy with my purchase.

Tested this out and feels very durable. The temperature seems accurate, although I don't have anything to test with. I've used this around the home for heating/cooling purposes. I've found the source of issues in my home.
it takes the guess work out. Areas where I thought I had problems were not the biggest issue. Photo shows how much heat is generated from just a cable modem.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by GavinL Very Happy with it.
Well like another reviewer stated it appears to be a solid little unit and it works well. I find myself checking temperatures on lots of things from computer parts to ceiling tiles.
Be aware that although it does have a laser to pin-point the reading it will only be accurate within a few feet. Any further away and the area which the sensor reads will be rather large. It also appears to have issues with shiny surfaces like polished aluminum or glass. Already my wife is using for things in the kitchen.
Note: This unit comes with a TEK 4 battery and standard charger so you won't need to purchase them separately.
I would definitely recommend it.

I have used Fluke IR thermal meters at work. They typically run $ 200 to $600 or more. They are very handy tools for troubleshooting temperature related problems. When I first noted this new Tek4 IR meter, and read it's specs., I was impressed. I purchased one right away. Ryobi has done it it again on a handy tool for the DIY user. This little IR meter works as well as any Fluke meter that I have used at work. It's a good tool for many uses. Locating hot spots in the home, such as hot air leaks in walls, ducts, or an over heated circuit breaker or electrical connection box. An over heated motor, or the true temperature of you gas grill. The IR "gun" reads in both degrees C and F, and stores up to ten readings. The display is back lit for viewing under dim conditions. I know of no other IR meter for this price from any company. Very useful tool for home troubleshooting....
