Rated 5 out of 5 by 2-1/2" finish nail 18v battery operated This is one awesome nail gun...no hauling air hoses, no buying gas cartridges, shoots up to a 2-1/2" finish nail (not a brad gun) ... I was sinking 2-1/2" nails into some hard 5/4 pine trim with no problems... The multi shot is also a great feature. For $250 you won't be disappointed with the finish nailer February 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome This nailer is so quick and easy. I just trimmed an entire job on one battery charge. I didn't have to lug a compressor in, drag a hose around, or hear the compressor kicking on. I love this gun. December 21, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't buy. First one worked for about a 1000 nails and then stopped shooting nails. The head that drives the nails did not retract all the way up. Purchased a second one and thought it was a one of but second one also stopped shooting nails. This time the problem appears to be with the trigger. It will not rev up in single nail mode when the tip is depressed on the work piece. In multi-nail mode it will rev up but not fire any nails even when the trigger is pressed. The design looks sleek and is much lighter then other battery operated nailers but it does not seem to have been made well. Will look for a Dewalt or a Senco. They have much better reviews online. Rated 5 out of 5 by Outperforms others by design alone. Take a close look at the over-molded touch-points on this and any other RIDGID tool. These tools can be laid onto almost any finish without worrying about leaving a mark because only the rubber touch-points make contact.Great idea; only RIDGID has it. It's heavier than other nailers offered at Home Depot because it is not built overwhelmingly of plastic. The De Walt or either Paslode are much lighter due to their abundance of plastic. Drop the RIDGID and go back to work. Drop the others and pick up the pieces (as long as the distance dropped is not significant). Operating cost is minimized. It runs on the 18v Li-Ion battery alone. Both Paslode models need a battery & a fuel cell (that would get very pricey over the life of the tool!). The De Walt XRP battery is old news; still running on Ni-Cad power. To keep up with the RIDGID you will need a second battery. If you have other 18v RIDGID tools, their batteries are interchangeable. The LED lighting is very bright & perfectly aimed so you can see the nose of the gun. No guessing or hoping you hit the right spot. And then there is the lifetime warranty. Nobody else has the faith in their own tools to offer a warranty like RIDGID. And it covers EVERYTHING!! Am I satisfied with this tool? Absolutely. Would I recommend it to a friend? Without hesitation. The are some problems in that the gun does not always fire a nail when the trigger is pulled. I found this at the onset too and fixed it by manually pushing the nailing strips securely to the end of the magazine. The feed/loading spring does its job well from there. And it has not misfired since. I used to shop for tools based on price first and then I'd look for operating qualities. I still shop for price but it is not the main consideration. Now I find a RIDGID tool that best matches my requirements and compare the rest of the manufacturers to the RIDGID. The line up of RIDGID tools best show off their attributes when compared head to head with other tools. These comparisons are what steer me to RIDGID almost every time. I guess that's why I own 15 RIDGID tools and accessories; and counting. March 13, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by 50/50 SO got tired of my cordless Paslode finish nailer not firing and finally quiting on me, so i decided to by this rigid finish nailer because i already have rigid cordless tools that i like, the price is 100$ cheaper then the next gun, and the lifetime service warranty makes me feel good inside! It is nice to know that i shouldn't have to spend another dollar to have a working gun for the rest of my life! went to store, bought it with the porter-cable 2inch nails, went home, took out of box to nail together a 23/32 plywood box that i was building to hold kids toys. FIRST nail goes a third of the way in, the second nail jams. Clear the jam, Gun wont fire another nail!!!! i lose my mind! take it back to the store, take another rigid gun off the self, use 2.5 inch porter cable nails and this one works like a beauty!!!! smooth! so the moral of my story is make sure to try the gun in the store before you leave! hope this helps the next person.
