It takes humidity out of the air as it is supposed to just fine. The problem is that I have it connected to a hose to empty into a sump-pump basin. The connecting piece to the drain fits loosely over the drain that empties the water and is held in place by a poorly designed piece of plastic. If you move the unit it comes out of place easily. Also, even when IN place there is no seal, just plastic over plastic so the bucket still fills up over time. (See the photos for illustrations of these points) In my opinion, I should not have to continually empty this bucket manually with a hose-attach feature.

Unit functioned OK initially but had several issues before too long. Unit shuts down on required filter maintenance but does not tell you. Had to call manufacturer to resolve. Unit failed permanently just inside of extended warranty expiration. Drain hose fitting poorly designed and filled up bucket anyway!. Save your money and go with some other unit. Seems as though an appliance such as this should last longer.

I bought my original LG Dehumidifier in 2011 and was very pleased with it for the first year. Just short of a year of use, the compressor failed and the unit stopped working. LG Replaced under warranty with a refurbished unit within one week of it quitting. Now the refurbished unit they sent me has stopped working a few short months later. My previous dehumidifier worked for 10 years, daily with no issue. These LG ones seem to only last a year or less before they fail. Now they want me to pay to have it repaired at a repair site over 6 hours from my house! Sorry LG. I'll take my appliance business elsewhere, especially since I was considering all LG in my kitchen for an upcoming remodel!

It did a good job removing moisture from the air. However it was unnecessarily noisy. I either had to duct tape the bucket to the machine to cut down on the rattling or remove the bucket all together when I used the continuous drain option. Both these options looked awful but otherwise it was so loud. This to me is a design flaw since the a large portion of the noise is caused by the bucket moving around. Using the continuous drain option, the attachment wasn't secure and had to be duct taped in place. Starting my 3rd summer with it, it would say full and shut off when the bucket was only half full. Then last week it started making this awful banging noise, 2 weeks after my extended warranty expired. I'm now getting a quieter, energy star rated product

Previously purchased the silver version of this, about the same capacity. It failed after a couple of years, but since I couldn't locate the receipt I couldn't prove the purchase date. The older model had a better warranty but useless to me.
So bought this model in December 2012. Where I live humidity is really only a problem from April/May to Sept/Oct, so not a lot of use. It failed in the fall of 2013 (CH 24) and this time I was prepared. LG originally wanted me to ship or take the unit to a service center 2 hours away, but by the time I was prepared to do this that center was closed. LG directly shipped me a replacement unit at no charge, and my old unit was then sent back at no charge. +1 for LG. But the replacement unit has now failed with the same error code. Going through all the motions and nothing.
Unfortunately HD, I'm going to a competitor for a replacement.
