This lamp, for its price, offers the best lighting at 300 watts for room lighting in a mother-daughter (room/reading lamp) torchiere of any I could find.
The glass globe is nicely patterned (doesn't show up well in the pictures on line) and the wood and metal pole gives it a "warm" feeling in contrast to the all metal lamps. It has high and low settings for the room light, with the low setting good for watching TV.
The downside is that the main fixture takes standard bulbs only (the reading lamp takes either standard of CFL bulbs).
I also wasn't thrilled by the gooseneck of the daughter lamp, but it serves its purpose well.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by mm17 Very nice torchiere/daughter lamp
This lamp was easy to assemble. It has a weighty base, very stable. The wood pole with brushed silver-colored components is handsome. I particularly like the daughter lamp that has a metal shade so that the light from it is directed primarily toward the person sitting next to it. Most daughter lamps have a translucent shade that spreads the light to the rest of the room, which may not be optimal for others in the room, watching TV, etc.

I shopped for floor lamp for a few months, returned two from Lowe's and one from home depot 's own brand. And saw this lamp at a local store, but found it sold at home depot website for $30 cheaper!
Love it, it's heavy duty, but not too clucky for glass lamp shade (the reason I returned two of the lamp ). Very bright for 300w, option for half strength. Can take both cfl and tradition bulbs. I use the bulbs because it has no mercury.
