Both my children have horrible allergies & allergy induced asthma. Their allergist recommended a lower priced Holmes or Honeywell as long as it didn't have an ionizer (which actually makes asthma worse since it creates ozone). This was one of only a few air purifiers that actually gives the option to turn off the ionizer! It has a UV bulb that kills germs (reducing cold/flu/etc) and has multiple speed settings. Since my kids have always had something running in their rooms for white noise, they are not bothered by this unit. I run it on the 4th speed setting and it works well for both white noise and cleaning the air. At my daughter's 2nd appointment with her allergist, she was doing better than expected and we were able to cut her medication doses by half! Within a matter of weeks after beginning to use this, she was no longer breathing heavy while sleeping or snoring. She no longer has a constantly runny nose and hasn't had an ear infection in over 9 months! My son has the cheaper Holmes unit in his room and while he has had an improvement, the air quality in his room is not as good as in my daughter's room. We have been running the units 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in their bedrooms with the door closed. The UV bulb on this unit is supposed to last at least 9 months and our allergist said to clean/replace filters no LESS than every 6 months. We will be purchasing another unit for my son's room now that we know it is worth the investment!

RE: HONEYWELL # HHT-149-HD SKU 378672.
My spouce has Bronchiectasis which is a lung condition exibited by a tear in the lung. She is also a diabetic and, therefore, cannot have her lung repaired. Excessive coughing, constantly, all day and all night is the result of this disease. Her coughing has been present for many years.
We purchased this Honeywell unit and placed it into a 200 square room to aid her in her breathing process. This was one of the best decisions we had made for years.
The coughing did not subside (it will never cease) but is was reduced considerably. She rests much easier with the help of this unit.

This air purifier has several settings which allows for easy adjustment. Air smells fresh and clean. I like the "clean filter" indicator.

My wife and I both suffer from allergies. We purchased 3 of these for around the house and our bedroom. They work great. We are happy with the purchase. It looks slick, you can feel the air circulate around the room. The house actually smells so much better, clean. With a husky and cat the pet dander was terrible. These filter everything out of the air. And, unlike some of the others on the market, the replacement filters are cheap and have to be replaced only a couple of times per year. Would totally recommend.

Works as promised. I liked it so well this time around I purchased two as a gift for my mom. Easy to operate and maintain. The only gripe I have it that the oscillating feature seems to have stopped working on the one machine that I have only had for a year. Otherwise, it's great and still cleaning and improving my air. I would recommend to anyone.
