This four cycle offering by Ryobi was used to replace my existing 2 cycle blower.
Starting the engine isn't hard, you just have to add the included 2.2oz of 20w50 oil, fill with regular gas and follow the starting instructions printed on the side of the blower by the choke lever. Use quality fuel and keep and eye on the oil level to ensure long engine life. Store the blower upright and drain the fuel when not in use for long periods to prevent gumming up the engine internals. Not doing so will cause issues with reliability in the future.
When running the engine has a low gurgle sound. It's not the high pitched whine of the 2 stroke engine. It sounds nice. I haven't had any issues with reliability during Spring cleanup. Each time I need to clean off the sidewalk or driveway of leaves, grass clippings it starts without issue. You must remember to choke it properly by following the directions or you'll flood it.
The blower nozzle attaches easily and comes in two pieces. They twist lock together so length can be adjusted or accessory attachments added if needed.
One of my favorite features is the throttle cruise control. You can either use the trigger style throttle and pulse the air flow as needed, or for large jobs you can use the handy throttle lever on the side of the handle and set the throttle exactly where you want it to stay.
The only downside of this blower is that it is in fact a bit heavier than the 2 stroke models. While it's not a huge difference, you do notice it after you have it hanging from your arm for a day of yardwork. To relieve this, I would have liked to see a shoulder strap that clips to the handle and can hang on your shoulder to alleviate a bit of the weight and still let you swing it around.
Overall, I'd recommend this to people looking for a new blower in the 4 cycle category.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Aayan Working great for me
This 10.5 lbs. non-commercial blower comes in a well-packaged box containing 3 pieces. Itâs 2 pipes and one engine housing piece. It requires about 2 minutes easy assembly (no tools required), just snap and rotate the blower pipes, pour included 65ml 20W-50 engine lubricant, 1 liter of gas and you are ready to roll. Follow the 7 start-up steps labeled on the engine housing. I have used it many times and I must mention that it always started on first pull. Give it about 15 seconds after the cold start before you increase the throttle. Even though the unit is 10.5 pounds but after adding gas and engine lubricant, it weighs about 13 pounds and thatâs the weight you will be carrying around during cleanup task. For me, itâs quite light but for some it might be heavy.
Since the air in-take is on the left side of the blower, it kind of sucks-in your clothing if you are holding the blower in your right hand. So, holding in left hand should be the preference. Most noticeable thing about the blower is the vibration you feel in your hands. But itâs supposed to be felt since you are holding a running engine in your hands. Initially it was very awkward for me but now I am kind of use to it. Itâs of course is 4-Cycle so no gas mixing certainly reduces hassle. Throttle control is very convenient which lets you control the air blowing per your requirements. It replaced my electric blower which makes me cable free and now I can easily walk around my ½ acre yard. So far so good, I am happy with its performance.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by PAL9000 Works perfectly
I have no idea why this has gotten bad reviews. I bought it a few weeks ago and I've been using it everyday. It starts after the first pull and runs perfectly. It's not that loud or heavy. I first bought the one+ electric blower which is only 200 cfm. It was ok but really only useful for sweeping hard surfaces. This one blows the same amount of air at idle. It's very powerful and the only blower you will need.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by LBinNM Get to know your local Ryobi warranty repair shop
Bought the original model 02/2013 and we just received our 2nd replacement.
We are on our 3rd one in just over a year.
The shop mechanic said they use a plasitc cam shaft and it wears down fast so they don't fix it, just replace it with a new one.
Initially, it truely does start, run and work great, but my wife uses it 4-5 times/wk with light work of blowing leaves, etc.
Then it just starts getting harder and harder to start and eventually you will blow your arm out trying to get it to run.
If you have that issue, just take it back to the local warranty repair shop and Ryobi will ship you a brand new one, the cam shaft lobes wear down and it becomes impossible to start.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Razorhorn Good 4-Stroke Blower
I decided to convert my lawn tools to four-cycle. For whatever reasons, two-stroke motors and I don't seem to get along for more than two years. My wife uses this tool more than I do, and she has no complaints starting it or handling it. For perspective, we live on a large lot with two paved driveways each about 150 feet, and we have a large concrete pad, 60x100', as well as the usual sidewalks and patio. This blower handles this job with no problem. It you're tired of mixing oil and gas for your yard tool, I certainly recommend this tool.
