PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Model # GEN4000LP

Internet # 202222977

The Sportsman Propane 3,250/4,000-Watt Portable Generator can power common household appliances and power tools. It is equipped with two -120 volt outlets and a 12 volt DC outlet for battery charging. A generator of this size is ideal for small camping or tailgating parties or to have on hand in case you need some temporary power in an emergency situation. It has a 7HP 4-Stroke OHV Recoil Start engine. Its affordable but well thought out with full featured options such as Automatic Low Oil Shutdown and Automatic Voltage Regulator. It boasts an engine run time of 10 hours at 50% on a common 20Lb (gas grill type) cylinder (LPG cylinder not included). A 5 foot propane fuel hose with a regulator is included for your added convenience. The engine is surprisingly quiet; it runs at less than 68 Db. This is a great generator for anyone who needs affordable power. Propane has several distinct advantages over gasoline generators. Propane burns cleaner than gas engines. Carbon monoxide emissions run up to 40% lower. Propane will not degrade, so you can keep several propane tanks on hand for emergencies and store them for an unlimited amount of time. Since this generator runs on propane you never have to worry about the fuel going bad or having the carburetor getting fouled due to degenerated gasoline - a common problem with gasoline powered small engines.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 203 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works well I ordered this when it was the deal of the day, just before Hurricane Sandy was announced. Delivered in 4 days, just before the storm for which I was glad as I have been without power for 5 days now. It works very well. I don't know how to determine load, but I have been getting about 6.5 hours per tank running the refrigerator, tv,computer, and alternating the freezer and pellet stove. I love the propane as you can't get gasoline in this area and propane doesn't give the gas fumes and is safer to transport than gas. It is easy to operate and change oil. I do wish it came with wheels but I put it on a flat bed dolly and it moved easily. November 3, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bargain price for this generator This generator does what it is supposed to do. It starts easily on two pulls, can handle a good sized load, can charge a 12V battery, and now comes with an "RV" receptacle which is a NEMA TT-30R type 120V 30A capacity. September 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great generator This generator came with low expectations. I bought it on sale at a ridiculously low price. However, it has turned out to be a gem. I use at my off grid cabin in the San Luis Valley. It starts every time. It's not a loud generator. It goes through practically no oil. It's not as pretty as a Honda or other high price generators, but it runs like a charms and powers everything I put to it: all power tools, including a massive hammer drill, microwave, etc. Finally, it runs forever on a single tank of propane. I used it building the cabin for probably three hours a day over two weeks. This is a great generator. August 19, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Pretty good deal The unit showed up in good shape. It started right up and ran well. However, it faltered when the connected load got to about 3200 watts. Below that, it performed well. I added some little wheels and a handle made from 1/2" EMT to make it easier to move. We have two of these at our deer camp, which does not have electricity. We ran the unit over three days, mainly at night and did not use a whole propane bottle. The noise level is acceptable. Good unit for the money. We'll see how it holds up after running it the whole deer season. October 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Easy set-up/started right up. It was very easy to set up and hooked the propane up and it started on the second pull and ran smoothly. I let it run for 15 minutes or so and hooked up some low watt items and worked very easily with no loss of power. The weight was a little much for one person to lift but is manageable. Have not had a full use yet as it is a back-up power source so won't know it's full rating until then. When ordering a wheel/handle set make sure that it is for this particular model as the others need to be modified somewhat in order to fit. October 28, 2014
