CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 41 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works just fine I only had a couple of doors to resize, not bore new holes. It worked just fine. And for the price I couldn't beat it. Take your time boring and you should get satisfactory results. July 22, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy as a pre-made pie My parents' house was built in 1969 and the knob hole is much smaller than the required holes for today's standard knobs and locks. So off I went to HD and bought this door hole installation kit. First off, it's really easy to use. Since we already had the striker hole in the door, I just lined up the jig with the hole, using the small hole saw as a guide/pin. Then tightened down the clamp and started drilling. A minute later, I'm through. Install the door knob and I'm done. A couple things you need to be aware of: Most doors have a thin veneer that will chip on the exit side of the hole. Mark your hole saw at the thickness of the door so when you get close to breaking through, you can put less pressure and cut instead of punch through that veneer. The hole saw is very easy to get cocked off axis. It's not a big deal but for those of you perfectionists, you'll need to be careful when starting the saw. This generates a good amount of saw dust. Have a shop vac ready to clean up. The jig gets in the way of being able to solidly support the door as you drill. It'd be nice if there was a piece that would rest against the jamb so the door isn't trying to move while you're trying to drill straight. March 6, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great as a guide, but mandrel is weak I had the same experience as one of the other reviewers: the threads on the mandrel stripped after three uses of the 2 3/8" hole saw. However, the guide is great for reboring holes for modern knobs in doors that are 53 years old. June 4, 2013
