I followed some youtube tune up advice to improve the performance such as getting rid of the original blade that came with it and have since been pleased with it. I have owned my Ridgid 14" band saw since 2006, the glued on name brand on the top wheel cover is starting to peel off. Regular maintenance such as oiling and waxing table surface and moving parts have probably increased it use. Do I use it everyday, No but often enough. Quick cuts and some outside scroll cutting.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Mock This saw is constructed of inferior blade adjustment controls and mechanisms.
I have had to replace the blade support guides, the power switch, the blade alignment mechanism and several other small parts. Sorry I didn't buy a craftsman bnd saw..

I purchased this saw at a reasonable price, however when it came to ordering a rip fence and mitre gauge i find them to be priced more than i paid for the saw, most saws i shopped around for had these parts included.I am very disappointed with this issue. The saw itself seems tio have plenty of power to cut anything i have to throw at it.There is one problem with the vibration which shouldn't have to be dealt with by the consumeer,i feel should be tested before it leaves the factory.Other than that good saw for the money.

Pros: Inexpensive, solidly built, an be rewired for 240 volt operation.
Cons: Poorly balanced resulting in strong vibrations. Miter slot does not have grooves at the bottom so a standard miter gauge doesn't fit.
There is no fence or miter gauge included. This makes the price lower and is not a real drawback as after market fences and miter gauges are often much better than those that are included with a tool.
The manual is short on specifications. For example, I couldn't find the bolt size for the accessory mounting holes. Emailing Ridgid technical support has not resulted in an answer so far.
The bolt holes fit an M6 metric bolt. Found by trial and error. I wouldn't recommend this product due to the vibration but it is a solidly built tool.

Great saw! I just finished setting mine up and using it for the first time and I'm impressed. What little vibration there is lets me know it's running when I have my ear phones on. It's well made, well packaged and VERY HEAVY. The only question I have is that the material with the saw mentioned the Herculift system as an accessory. I have that system on my Ridgid table saw, and I would love to get for this saw. I haven't received notice from HD yet whether it's available or not........anyways...great saw
