There are a lot of variables to consider when choosing LED light bulbs. Make sure you choose the correct color temperature and beam spread -- in addition to the brightness you are looking for. This bulb is a bright white color, which is perfect for my use in a stove hood.

I'm big into model cars (just check out my handle), and when the 12V transformer on my display cabinet lighting started to trip repeatedly from maxing out while powering the halogen lamps I'd been using, I figured I'd try LEDs.
These draw only a fraction of the energy, but give as much, if not more, light. The bulbs went in without a single problem, and the light they emit is stronger, brighter, and cooler than the halogens. Given the extended life these offer (32,000 hours? Holy smokes), paying a premium - in this case, only about three bucks over what those halogens cost - was a gamble I figured I'd take. I couldn't be happier.
They've been in place for around 24 hours now, and the transformers haven't tripped once. It's a great alternative to the halogens, which never really lasted that long, anyway. I'll be buying more of these LEDs next time I visit the store. Very highly recommended.

These bulbs produce a decent amount of light and have a better color temperature than other LED bulbs I have tried. The savings in electricity and heat generation outweigh any negatives for me. It's a shame the high cost of these bulbs turns many people off. You will save in the long run. Yes, certain appliances have transformers that are not compatible with these bulbs. If you are somewhat handy, you can buy a "constant voltage" transformer online for about $20 and replace the one in your appliance. I have done that with a few fixtures already. You still come out ahead savings-wise.

I have used these with two different track lighting fixtures. The first of these is the Easylite Gyro (available online at Home Depot). The Easylite has a magnetic transformer and thus works out of the box with LEDs, and dimming works beautifully as well. The second fixture is made by Tiella and has an electronic transformer, which unfortunately didn't work with these bulbs without flickering. However, it was a fairly simple and inexpensive matter to swap out that fixture's transformer with a more LED-friendly one (I used a Hatch Lighting RS12-60M-LED), and now it all works beautifully.
Color temperature and brightness are subjective, but I find the light output to be pleasing, in this case lighting a hobby area and an otherwise dimly-lit hallway. As I add more low-voltage lighting to the house, these bulbs will definitely be replacing the included halogens.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Detailz0 Compare to 35W Halogen MR16
So based on other reviews and my hope that this 6W bulb could replace my 50W halogen MR16 bulbs I bought 5 of these for my bathroom. They are not bright enough to replace a 50W halogen MR16, maybe a 35W max. They are distinctly more yellowish in color when compared to either the halogen or another 6W LED made by Toshiba that I purchased as well. I own the bayonet type (GU10) Ecosmart LED bulbs as well, and those provide enough light in my track fixture since there are 3 within close proximity to each other. But in this case, they do not provide enough light for an entire room. I wanted an alternative to the pricier Philips 10W LED bulbs, I guess Ecosmart is not there yet. I will try the Philips bulbs at some point as well and post a review for them when I do.
