Out of the box the unit is not square. The axle is angled with respect to the rest of the assembly. No change after fully assembled.
Upon use, the feet/anchors that allow it rest are so low to the ground that it catches newly cut grass making it very difficult to use. If you elevate the angle to compensate, the spreader becomes unbalanced and will dump the load at the smallest ground obstacle. If you hit a rock or a tree root, you will topple the entire load if you're not very very careful. I've owned a much older spreader for many years and it was a very different design and very easy to use.
The unit cannot spread insecticide pellets requiring a light coverage.
Center of gravity is too high at rest which means that at rest on a concrete surface, the slightest bump will topple the entire unit. At rest, the unit should be stable. While moving, the unit should be stable if it hits a small rock. This unit, because it is top heavy, is not stable.
Also, the pin doesn't sweep over the opening to clear obstruction. Yes, I can install my own, but I shouldn't have to.
Not happy with the product

This is the most disappointing piece of junk I've ever bought. The cable that opens the plastic cover over the chute broke loose from the control lever after the first use, and there is no way to get at it to fix it. The thing is just a very expensive wagon now as it cannot spread anything. Also, the whole frame was a bit twisted right out of the box. The rear legs are a bit too long, ensuring that they catch on everything. This also makes the whole thing front-heavy with a full load so that it wants to tip over forward if you try to rest it on the legs. All around, this is a terrible design, cheap materials, and horrible quality.

Not worth the money. A piece of garbage. Does not hold 75 lbs of calicum choloride. The handles cracked in half. Overrated.

I purchased this spreader to use with rock salt on a large driveway. It assembled easily and does the job admirably. My only concern is whether or not it will hold up as it is of light weight design. So far so good.
